New rural areas flourish

With creative thinking, innovative ways of doing things, and the efforts of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the solidarity and unity of the people, the appearance of the province's countryside has put on a new coat, gradually moving towards the goal of modern countryside, ecological agriculture, and civilized farmers.

The countryside changes its clothes

In the spirit of considering new rural construction as a continuous journey without stopping, the program not only brings spacious houses, wide concreted village roads and alleys, but also a strong transformation of agriculture and rural areas on the basis of industrialization and modernization; an image of the countryside changing day by day, so that each person can take control of their life on their own homeland.

That miracle is not only measured by numbers or specific projects, but originates from the strong political will, the synchronous participation of the entire political system and especially the consensus and unanimity of the people - those who have turned aspirations into actions, turning the dream of the new rural area into a vivid reality. From the new rural construction movement, many models and product chains have been built, increasing people's income. This is considered one of the important supports to help the province complete many tasks and goals set out. At the same time, the gap between rural and urban areas is gradually reduced, because the infrastructure is invested in modern and synchronous construction.

Selected by the Central Government as one of the five pilot districts nationwide to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2010-2015 period, since then, Phuoc Long district has proposed many solutions with many creative approaches. From there, it has initially achieved important achievements, creating a solid foundation for the next stage in building the New Rural Development. According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Thien - Secretary of Phuoc Long District Party Committee: "The appearance of villages and hamlets has changed as it is today starting from the National Target Program on New Rural Development. The program has brought a new vitality, creating excitement for the people; promoting socio-economic development...".

Political determination

Not only Phuoc Long district but also most communes, wards and towns in the whole province with the efforts of the political system and the consensus of the people, localities have successfully built new rural communes, advanced new rural communes, and models. With a low starting point, high poverty rate, and economy mainly based on agricultural production, Bac Lieu has gradually created remote and isolated rural areas into livable rural areas.

In particular, after more than 15 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, together with the whole country, the work of building new rural areas in Bac Lieu has truly become the cause of the entire Party and people, with the whole political system unanimously and joining forces. That is also the high political determination, the constant efforts in the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the Government, the participation of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and people of all walks of life in the province. Promoting the achieved results, the province continues to set the goal of maintaining and sustaining the results of the communes meeting the new rural standards in the previous period, promoting the development of advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. Looking back on the past, Bac Lieu is proud to always be a locality in the top of the country in building new rural areas with 49/49 communes meeting new rural standards, 21 communes meeting advanced new rural standards, and 8 communes meeting model new rural standards; 2/7 districts are recognized as new rural districts...

Talking about the past and upcoming work of building new rural areas in Bac Lieu, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Van Thieu emphasized: "Building new rural areas is a program of great significance for agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Bac Lieu will strive to achieve and exceed the criteria but not chase after achievements. Communes that have been considered and recognized as advanced new rural communes and model new rural areas must continue to maintain, improve and improve the achieved criteria, with the motto "Building new rural areas has only a starting point, no ending point". The ultimate goal is to improve the material and spiritual life of the people, aiming to build livable villages and truly secure and safe rural areas".
