Promoting the role of the Fatherland Front in multidimensional poverty reduction at the local level

In recent times, the Fatherland Front at all levels has played a key role in connecting and mobilizing social resources to give gifts, support housing and livelihoods for poor and near-poor households. Along with that, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations have also implemented many practical models to care for people's lives, contributing to creating a solid foundation for the goal of sustainable multidimensional poverty reduction in localities.

Joining hands for the goal of multidimensional poverty reduction

During the 2024-2029 term, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province and socio -political organizations identified social security work and caring for the lives of the poor as key and continuous tasks. Responding to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025", the whole province supported the construction of 722 houses and the repair of 133 Great Unity houses for poor and near-poor households with a total value of more than 68.1 billion VND.

At the same time, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations continued to promote their role in connecting social resources, mobilizing more than 153 billion VND from organizations, businesses and individuals inside and outside the province. These resources supported the construction of 1,693 Great Unity houses, charity houses, friendship houses, Farmer's shelters, Comradeship houses, etc., helping union members, association members and households in difficult circumstances to stabilize their housing, work and produce with peace of mind.

Caring for housing for the poor is identified by the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations as an important task.

Along with housing support, many sustainable poverty reduction livelihood models continue to be maintained and expanded in localities. The Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations mobilize funds to support trees, animals, and seeds; equip production facilities; organize vocational training; ... to help people have the conditions to escape poverty sustainably. Many gift giving programs, support for the poor, near-poor, policy families and people affected by natural disasters and epidemics have also been promptly implemented, spreading the spirit of humanity and affection in the community, contributing to reducing the poverty rate according to the province's multidimensional standards to 0.65%.

Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Trinh assessed: “The results achieved show the joint efforts of the entire political system, in which the Fatherland Front plays a role in connecting and mobilizing resources to care for poor and near-poor households. Thereby, contributing to helping people overcome difficulties, have more motivation to rise up, stabilize their lives, and at the same time create a solid foundation for the province's goal of sustainable and multidimensional poverty reduction in the new period, leaving no one behind”.

Synchronously deploy multiple activities

Implementing the province's policy of caring for the poor and sustainable poverty reduction, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has synchronously deployed many activities to care for poor and near-poor households. Thereby, strongly arousing the spirit of solidarity and humanity in the community. In the 2024-2029 term, the Fatherland Front of My Hanh commune coordinated with the government and socio-political organizations to mobilize more than 3,000 gifts with a total value of more than 1 billion VND. From this resource, the commune organized visits and gave gifts to policy families, people with revolutionary contributions and poor and near-poor households, deeply demonstrating the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "The whole leaf covers the torn leaf" of the nation.

The Fatherland Front of My Hanh commune plays a core role in connecting and mobilizing social resources to give gifts to poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households.

Community engagement is clearly demonstrated through the National Great Unity Day held in 13 residential areas. At the festival, in addition to cultural activities, arts, folk games, sports competitions, and recognition of outstanding cultural families, residential areas also give gifts to poor and near-poor households and students with difficult circumstances. This year's festival, residential areas gave more than 200 gifts and scholarships, with a total value of 100 million VND.

Activities such as mobilizing the Fund for the Poor, the Fund for Gratitude, supporting the construction and repair of Great Unity houses and Love Shelters were also effectively implemented by the Fatherland Front and its member organizations, contributing to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security. In 2025, the commune mobilized the construction of 2 houses with a total amount of 240 million VND. The emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses was strongly coordinated by the Fatherland Front. Currently, the commune has no temporary or dilapidated houses.

Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Hanh Commune, Le Thi Ngoc Kim, said: “Along with building and repairing houses and giving gifts, the Commune Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations have also implemented many models to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction such as Supporting the giving of health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances; Sustainable poverty reduction; Raising piggy banks; Charity rice jars; Uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty; Comradeship Fund; Practicing thrift following Uncle Ho's example. These models contribute to improving the quality of life, creating stable livelihoods, spreading the spirit of "mutual love and affection" and strengthening the people's trust in the Party, government and the Fatherland Front.”

The Front stands side by side, helping poor households rise up.

In order to realize the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Vinh Cong commune and socio-political organizations organized many practical activities to support poor and near-poor households to stabilize their lives. Responding to the emulation movement "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", the Fatherland Front of the commune coordinated to mobilize benefactors to support the construction of 3 new houses and repair 1 gratitude house with a total value of 200 million VND. The mobilization of the "For the Poor" Fund and social security programs continued to be effectively coordinated.

In the 2024-2029 term, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations of the commune mobilized more than 207 million VND, promptly supporting near-poor households, households in especially difficult circumstances, affected by natural disasters, storms, floods, supporting medical examination and treatment, giving gifts and scholarships to poor students who overcome difficulties. Particularly on holidays and Tet, the Fatherland Front of the commune coordinated to visit and give more than 3,700 gifts, with a total value of more than 1.5 billion VND.

In addition, the Commune Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations implemented 6 sustainable poverty reduction models for near-poor households with a total amount of 62 million VND. Thereby, it contributed significantly to helping people overcome difficulties and ensuring social security in the area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (residing in Hoa Phu 1 hamlet, Vinh Cong commune) shared: “In the past, when my children were young, my family was a near-poor household. Thanks to the local government, the Fatherland Front and the hamlet committee regularly visiting, giving gifts and supporting livelihoods (breeding cows), my family had the opportunity to rise up. Currently, I grow vegetables to sell, support myself and have escaped from near-poor households sustainably.”

Thanks to the support of the local government and Fatherland Front, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (residing in Hoa Phu 1 hamlet, Vinh Cong commune) actively worked to improve her life and escape from near-poverty.

In addition, the Commune Fatherland Front also coordinated with the government, organizations, departments and branches to mobilize resources of more than 1.6 billion VND from businesses, philanthropists and the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Relatives. In addition to building infrastructure and welfare projects, these resources also focused on giving gifts to households in difficult circumstances on the occasion of holidays and Lunar New Year.

Currently, Vinh Cong maintains the model of Self-managed Residential Areas, Helping each other to sustainably reduce poverty. The Fatherland Front and its member organizations also carry out activities such as lending capital for production and livestock breeding; consulting, creating conditions to support employment; borrowing capital with 0% interest rate from the mutual assistance fund;... Thereby, gradually building united, prosperous, happy and civilized residential areas.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Cong Commune, Vo Thanh That, commented: “The results achieved in caring for poor, near-poor households and families in difficult circumstances in recent times have significantly contributed to reducing the poverty rate in the locality. This is also the motivation for us to continue to maintain support activities and replicate appropriate models, creating conditions for those in less fortunate circumstances to have more opportunities to rise up and gradually stabilize their lives.”

The synchronous and practical activities of the Fatherland Front at all levels and socio-political organizations have kindled trust and hope for thousands of households. This is also an important foundation for localities to effectively implement the multidimensional poverty reduction goal, towards sustainable socio-economic development./.
