Ho Chi Minh City: More than 3,000 people walk to raise social security funds

The organizing committee of the walking program to support the Fund "For the development of Dong Hung Thuan" presented thank you letters to the accompanying units.

On the morning of November 23, responding to the Party and State's policy of strengthening social security care, promoting the spirit of "mutual love" and "leaving no one behind", Dong Hung Thuan ward organized a walking program to support the Fund "For the development of Dong Hung Thuan". The activity is both meaningful in practicing health following the example of Uncle Ho, and mobilizing resources to care for the poor, the disadvantaged and the frontline forces.

The program was attended by former Vice President Truong My Hoa; representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and more than 3,000 participants, including officials, civil servants, armed forces, union members, association members, businesses, religious organizations, students and local residents. The 2km route was organized on internal roads, creating a vibrant atmosphere, connecting and encouraging the sports movement in the community.

Speaking at the program, former Vice President Truong My Hoa highly appreciated the efforts of Dong Hung Thuan ward in implementing deeply humane activities right from the grassroots level. Accordingly, over the past 27 years, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has accompanied tens of thousands of ethnic minority students, students in border and island areas, especially children of fishermen and forces on duty to protect the sovereignty of sea and islands.

This year, within the framework of the UpRace 2025 running and walking program, the Fund will award 8,000 scholarships to disadvantaged students across the country. Notably, Dong Hung Thuan ward is the first grassroots unit selected by the Fund to accompany the implementation of this activity, demonstrating trust in the spirit of solidarity and community responsibility of the locality.

The former Vice President expressed his belief that with the tradition of solidarity and dynamism of the political system, Dong Hung Thuan ward will continue to spread humanistic values, making positive contributions to social security work in the coming time.

Vice Chairwoman of Dong Hung Thuan Ward People's Committee Vo Thi Ngoc Lan said that the event took place on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Southern Uprising, further emphasizing the value of solidarity and patriotism. Ward leaders affirmed that the walking program not only aimed at physical training but also had the meaning of sharing, aiming to build a humane living environment rich in community love.

During more than 120 days of implementing the two-level local government model after the merger, Dong Hung Thuan ward has made efforts to overcome difficulties and received consensus from the people, creating a premise for effective implementation of social security programs. The companionship of businesses and people in this program is a testament to the solidarity strength of the entire community.

Dong Hung Thuan Ward hopes that the walking activity will become an annual program, continuing to arouse the spirit of responsibility, humanity and social solidarity; at the same time creating motivation for volunteer and social welfare movements to spread more widely in the coming time.
