Bac Ninh: Summary of the smart factory development project.

BAC NINH - On the morning of October 16th, at the Kinh Bac Cultural Center (Kinh Bac Ward), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Samsung Vietnam, and the Bac Ninh Department of Industry and Trade jointly organized a summary meeting of the "Smart Factory Development Cooperation Project 2025" (hereinafter referred to as the project) for 5 businesses in the Northern region participating in the project after 5 months of implementation.

Attending the conference were Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; representatives from the Department of Industry ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd.; relevant associations and organizations of Bac Ninh province; and 5 enterprises participating in the project, along with consulting and supporting enterprises.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh, along with representatives from the Department of Industry, the Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam, and representatives from provincial departments and agencies, presented certificates of project completion to the five participating enterprises.

The project was launched on May 19, 2025, with the goal of supporting Vietnamese manufacturing businesses in improving management capabilities, optimizing operations, promoting digital transformation, and moving towards a smart factory model according to international standards.

The project is being implemented at 5 businesses in the North and 5 businesses in the South. The 5 businesses participating in the project in the North include: AMA Holdings Investment Joint Stock Company, An Lap Plastic Co., Ltd. ( Bac Ninh ), Korea Vietnam Technical Copper Co., Ltd. - KCT (Ninh Binh), Van Long Technical Plastic Joint Stock Company (Hai Phong), and Vina Technology Joint Stock Company (Thai Nguyen).

After more than 5 months of implementation, the project has achieved many impressive results, including: successfully deploying a real-time production data display system, enabling leaders to easily monitor progress and make timely decisions; implementing a comprehensive system connecting production - warehouse - quality - equipment, increasing the factory's intelligence level from 1.7 to 2.8; building a system to manage all production activities, from raw material warehousing, production, assembly to shipping; upgrading the cleanroom from class 10,000 to class 1,000, reducing the foreign object error rate by 68.7%; applying an IoT system to collect and analyze real-time data, helping to reduce process errors by 30%...

As a result, equipment efficiency increased from 90% to 95%, product quality defect rates decreased by up to 75%; plan completion rates increased from 80% to 92%; delivery times were reduced, and labor productivity increased… helping businesses optimize their production processes.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh and representatives from the Department of Industry presented the Certificate of Commendation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to representatives from the Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kim Tea Hoon, Deputy General Director in charge of the Purchasing Center - Samsung Vietnam, said: The project is a collaborative initiative between Samsung Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to enhance production capacity, management, and digital transformation for businesses in the supporting industries sector. From 2022 to the present, the project has accompanied 82 Vietnamese businesses in their journey of improvement, building smart factory platforms, and training 123 smart factory experts.

Following the project, the advised businesses will continue to develop smart factory systems under the online mentorship of Korean experts to help enhance their competitiveness, increase their ability to participate in global supply chains, and contribute to the development of Vietnam's supporting industries.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh congratulated and highly appreciated the results of the project and the speeches of the representatives of the Northern businesses participating in the project. The project not only brings efficiency in production, but also contributes to creating a team of entrepreneurs and producers with good qualities to cooperate long-term with international partners, including Samsung Group.

Comrade Pham Van Thinh delivered a speech at the summary conference.

On behalf of the leaders of Bac Ninh province, Mr. Pham Van Thinh expressed his gratitude to Samsung Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for implementing this project. Prior to this, since 2010, Samsung has supported Vietnamese businesses with its consulting, technical, technological, material, and moral support, as well as the provision of existing factories, thereby bringing practical benefits to Vietnamese businesses in general and those in Bac Ninh province in particular. Thanks to this, businesses in Bac Ninh province have been able to keep pace with the modern trend of developing smart, automated factories.

In the context of rapidly developing science and technology, Comrade Pham Van Thinh hopes that businesses, in addition to maintaining gratitude and integrity in production and commitments to partners, need to be bolder, more daring, and have bigger dreams and ambitions to expand production scale, diversify products, and automate more, striving to develop factories with only administrative and planning staff, minimizing manual production. Businesses should invest in rooftop solar power, self-sufficient in energy production to green the energy source and smarten production.

The comrade emphasized that Bac Ninh province is the industrial development center of the country, therefore, he requested the Department of Industry and Trade (based on the experience of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the support of Samsung) to propose a separate project for the development of smart factories in the province to promote the development of smart factories, without relying on support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade as before. The Department of Industry and Trade should report this project proposal to the Provincial People's Committee in October 2025 so that the province can decide on the implementation and support.

The comrade expressed his hope that the five enterprises that recently received support to build smart factories would maintain and build upon their achievements, spread their success, and contribute more to the industrial sector of the northern provinces; and that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for Bac Ninh to implement similar projects so that the province could have more smart factories and enterprises. This would provide opportunities for breakthroughs and advancements, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the country as a whole.

For its active contribution and the effectiveness of the project, the Samsung Vietnam Purchasing Center was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Minister of Industry and Trade at the ceremony.

On the same morning, delegates attended a summary and report on the results of the smart factory development cooperation project in 2025 of An Lap Plastic Co., Ltd. (Bac Ninh); and visited the company's production plant at Lot E5-5, Dai Dong - Hoan Son Industrial Park, Dai Dong Commune (Bac Ninh).
