How will police salaries change from July 1, 2026, when the base salary increases?
From July 1st, 2026, Decree 161/2026/ND-CP officially comes into effect, stipulating the basic salary and bonus regime for officials, civil servants, public employees, and members of the armed forces.
The basic salary will increase to 2,530,000 VND/month from July 1, 2026.
Police salaries are calculated using the following formula: Salary = Salary coefficient x Base salary.
Accordingly, the projected salary scale for police officers from July 1, 2026, is as follows:

Do police officers receive allowances?
Clause 1 of Article 38 of the 2018 Law on the People's Public Security stipulates the allowance and subsidy regime for People's Public Security officers as follows:
"Salaries, allowances, housing, and working conditions for officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the People's Public Security Force."
1. The salary and allowance regime for officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the People's Public Security Force is regulated by the Government . The salaries of officers and non-commissioned officers serving under the professional regime are calculated based on their position, title, and rank, in accordance with the nature and duties of the People's Public Security Force; seniority allowances are calculated based on their current salary and length of service in the People's Public Security Force. Officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the People's Public Security Force are entitled to allowances and subsidies similar to those received by civil servants with the same working conditions, as well as special allowances and subsidies for the People's Public Security Force.
2. Police officers who hold multiple positions or titles simultaneously are entitled to the benefits of the highest-ranking position or title and the allowance for holding multiple positions or titles as prescribed by law.
3. Police officers shall retain the rights and benefits of their current position and title when assigned to a lower position or title due to work requirements or changes in organization and staffing as prescribed by law.
4. When a People's Public Security officer is relieved of their duties or titles, they shall enjoy the benefits and privileges associated with their new position or title.
5. Officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the People's Public Security Force are provided with barracks and working and living conditions suitable to the nature of their work and assigned tasks.
6. Professional officers and technical specialists are entitled to housing allowances and guaranteed public housing; officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the People's Public Security are entitled to social housing support policies as prescribed by law.
According to the regulations mentioned above, police officers are entitled to allowances and subsidies similar to those received by officials and civil servants with the same working conditions, as well as special allowances and subsidies for police officers.
In addition, police officers are provided with barracks and working and living conditions suitable to the nature of their work and assigned tasks; and are entitled to social housing support policies as prescribed by law.
