Hanoi experienced one of its hottest days since the beginning of summer, with outdoor temperatures continuously rising, and many areas recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, the capital region continues to be in a widespread area of intense heat in the North. Maximum temperatures commonly range from 37-39 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 39 degrees Celsius; low humidity makes the weather even more muggy and stifling.
Over the past two days, Hanoi has experienced intense heat, making it difficult for outdoor workers to cope.
According to observations by a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper in the early afternoon of May 25th, many central streets in Hanoi were almost completely covered by a sweltering heat. On major roads such as Hoan Kiem, Nguyen Chi Thanh, and Pham Van Dong, the asphalt surface absorbed a lot of heat, and the heat radiated upwards, causing motorcyclists to feel a burning sensation even when fully covered.

The road surface temperature reached nearly 50 degrees Celsius.
Under the scorching sun, many people had to cover themselves from head to toe with sun-protective clothing, masks, glasses, and gloves. Numerous delivery drivers and freelancers took advantage of the shade under overpasses, trees, or roadside awnings to avoid the sun while waiting to deliver goods.
Around 11 a.m., traffic and pedestrians thinned out on many streets. Some roadside stalls became temporary shelters from the heat for outdoor workers. In the Hoan Kiem Lake area, the usual bustling atmosphere on weekends became quieter than usual due to the prolonged heat.

With rising temperatures, traffic is sparse at midday.

Pedestrians choose shade from the trees to avoid the sun while waiting at traffic lights.

The surface temperature of many roads in Hanoi at midday reached nearly 50 degrees Celsius.

People on the street were trying to cope with the heat by wearing sun-protective clothing, jackets, and covering their faces with scarves.

Workers struggle to make a living in the scorching heat.
