Speaking at the forum, Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in recent years, under the leadership of the Party and the decisive direction of the Government, Vietnam's tourism industry has made strong progress in recovery and development, gradually affirming its position as a comprehensive economic sector with interdisciplinary and interregional characteristics, and increasingly playing an important role as a driving force for the country's economic growth.

Mr. Ho An Phong observed that in recent years, media outlets have actively collaborated with the tourism industry through concrete activities, contributing to promoting the image of the country.
Therefore, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested that, within the framework of the forum, delegates propose many practical solutions with high theoretical and practical value, contributing to improving the effectiveness of tourism communication in the new phase.
According to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, choosing Quang Tri as the venue for this forum also contributes to promoting the image of the locality, fostering tourism development linkages in the North Central region and the East-West economic corridor.

According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, after the province merger, Quang Tri's tourism development space has expanded, bringing together many outstanding values in nature, culture, and history. The locality is considered a center for cave exploration tourism in Asia, and also a leading experiential destination in Vietnam.
Quang Tri boasts a coastline nearly 200km long with many pristine beaches; a natural forest ecosystem, and the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a World Natural Heritage site that has been twice recognized by UNESCO and awarded the title of Asia's Leading National Park at the 2025 World Tourism Awards.

The locality currently has 647 historical sites with 746 component sites classified at various levels, including: 5 special national historical sites, 69 national historical sites, and 573 provincial-level historical sites. Many historical landmarks have become symbols of war memories and aspirations for peace, such as the Vinh Moc Tunnels, the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Riverbanks, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Khe Sanh, and the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Besides its outstanding natural resources and history, Quang Tri has also developed many world-class tourism products such as the journey to conquer Son Doong Cave - the world's largest cave; tours exploring the DMZ, Khe Sanh - Phong Nha associated with a message of peace; or the Tan Hoa model, which was voted "Best Tourist Village" by the World Tourism Organization.

In 2025, the locality aims to welcome 9.6 million visitors, an increase of 16.9% compared to the previous year; of which international visitors will reach approximately 450,000, an increase of 43%; total tourism revenue will exceed 11,000 billion VND. In 2026, Quang Tri aims to welcome 10.5 million visitors, including 500,000 international visitors.
According to the leaders of Quang Tri province, the Provincial Party Congress has identified the development of the economy in a green and sustainable direction with four pillars: energy, logistics, tourism, and green agriculture. Tourism is specifically targeted to become a key economic sector, linked to community benefits and sustainable development.

By 2030, the province aims to welcome 13-15 million tourists, contributing approximately 10% to the local GRDP.
At the forum, the leader of the Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that the locality is implementing a comprehensive range of tourism communication and promotion activities with specialized content tailored to each domestic and international market segment.
In particular, the support of the press is considered one of the important factors contributing to the widespread dissemination of Quang Tri's tourism image.
During the program, delegates presented papers focusing on the role of the press in promoting the tourism industry in Vietnam.
