A boost from modern integrated complexes.

For many years, when mentioning Hai Phong , tourists often thought of Do Son, Cat Ba, or short beach getaways. But in recent years, the city's tourism landscape has changed rapidly with the continuous development of numerous high-end resorts, entertainment complexes, and accommodations.

No longer isolated projects, Hai Phong is gradually building a modern tourism ecosystem, integrating resorts, shopping, sports , and entertainment in a synchronized manner, targeting high-spending tourists who stay for extended periods.

According to tourism statistics, in 2025, Hai Phong is expected to welcome approximately 14.5 million visitors, generating revenue of over 15,200 billion VND. In the first three months of 2026, the city is projected to welcome 2.8 million visitors, a 12.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

The city currently has approximately 900 accommodation establishments, including nearly 19 hotels meeting 4-5 star standards. Notably, the demographics of visitors are clearly changing, with Hai Phong becoming increasingly attractive to international tourists. In the first quarter of 2026, in the golf course and high-end accommodation sector alone, nearly 10,000 South Korean tourists visited to experience the services, a 30% increase compared to the same period.

One of the attractions of Hai Phong tourism in recent times is the emergence of large-scale integrated tourism complexes, opening up a shift from summer tourism to year-round leisure and entertainment tourism.

Located in the southern part of the city, Dragon Ocean Do Son, spanning 480 hectares, makes its mark with an "all-in-one" tourism, resort, and entertainment model. The two beaches, Vung Huong (1,700 meters long) and Doi Rong (Dragon Hill) beach, quickly became popular attractions. The complex also boasts Vietnam's first 27-hole golf course on the sea, the 5-star Dream Dragon Resort, and a range of modern, multi-experience entertainment and relaxation facilities.

Located in the northern part of the city, the Vu Yen Tourist Area boasts a comprehensively developed ecosystem of modern, world-class services and amenities, including the 36-hole Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong, the Royal Horse Riding Academy, the VinWonders Royal Park entertainment complex, the Vincom Mega Mall shopping center, and many other high-end resort, commercial, and entertainment products.

At the recent Red Flamboyant Flower Festival, this destination was recognized as a provincial-level tourist area, which will create further impetus for the development of new iconic tourism products, enhancing the competitiveness and attractiveness of the city's tourism.

According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city, Hai Phong has a total of 37 recognized tourist areas and destinations, including 9 tourist zones and 28 tourist spots, contributing to the formation of an increasingly diverse, high-quality and attractive tourism product system.

Along with diverse tourist attractions, Hai Phong boasts world-class accommodations. In the heart of the city, the Pullman Hai Phong Grand Hotel is becoming a new symbol of high-end resort and MICE tourism. Flamingo Cat Ba offers a green resort model amidst Lan Ha Bay, while Nikko Hai Phong makes its mark with its Japanese-standard service style.

Towards becoming a tourist city.

Tourists come to enjoy and experience the Dragon Hill International Tourist Area (Do Son ward) during the summer and the Red Phoenix Flower Festival 2026.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc Loc, Director of Hotel Operations Management at the Doi Rong International Tourist Area, said that the consumption trends of tourists are changing sharply, especially in the high-end and international tourist segments. Nowadays, tourists are not only concerned about the quality of service but also about the environmental responsibility of the destination.

"The recognition of Dragon Ocean Do Son as an Excellent Green Tourist Attraction and Dream Dragon Resort as an Excellent Green Tourist Accommodation at the Red Phoenix Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2026 motivates us to continue building a comprehensive and modern tourism ecosystem, contributing to the overall growth of tourism in the city," Mr. Loc emphasized.

In addition to investing in large-scale projects, Hai Phong is also building a long-term development strategy with an international vision. According to the plan for 2030, Cat Ba will be recognized as a national tourist area, developing in a green and sustainable direction, linked to the World Natural Heritage site of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago.

Do Son will become a multi-functional national tourist area with strengths in resorts, entertainment, water sports, and high-end tourism. Currently, the city has 6 international standard golf courses such as Vu Yen, Doi Rong, Do Son, Song Gia… and is expected to develop approximately 18 golf courses by 2030. This is considered a major advantage for Hai Phong to attract high-spending international tourists.

Besides the already operational complexes, Hai Phong is also preparing to welcome many more large-scale projects expected to create new "super destinations" in the near future. In Cat Ba, the Cat Ba Central Bay Tourism, Service and Commercial Area Project, invested by Sun Group, is being implemented on an area of nearly 50 hectares in the central area of Cat Ba town, with a total investment of nearly 12,500 billion VND. Construction started in 2024, the project is planned with the idea of transforming Cat Ba into the "mini Maldives of Asia," creating an international-class resort, commercial, entertainment and beach tourism space.

Meanwhile, on May 13, 2026, the Hai Phong International Trade and Tourism Conference Center Project officially commenced construction with a total investment of over 2.110 billion VND. The project includes a 200-room 5-star hotel complex, a conference center, commercial and service areas, high-end entertainment spaces, and a unique landscape ecosystem, notably the revival of the Do Son Casino, a tourism icon.

According to Mr. Tran Van Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city, the emergence of large-scale tourism complexes is creating a strategic shift for Hai Phong tourism, from simply exploiting resources to developing a modern tourism ecosystem, operating year-round and capable of international competitiveness.

“In the coming time, the city will continue to improve its connectivity infrastructure, attract strategic investors, strongly develop resort tourism, MICE tourism, green tourism, and enhance service quality. Hai Phong aims not only to increase the number of visitors but also to increase spending and extend the length of stay so that tourism truly becomes a key economic sector.”

The city's successes and correct direction in tourism development over the past period, along with its clear vision and goals for the future, truly instill great confidence and expectation for Hai Phong tourism to make a breakthrough and realize its tourism development goals.

According to the Hai Phong Tourism Development Master Plan, by 2030, the city aims to welcome approximately 25 million tourists, including 3 million international visitors. By 2045, tourism is expected to contribute over 10% to the city's GRDP, becoming a key economic sector in line with Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo, aiming to elevate Hai Phong to become an international coastal tourism center and a new growth pole of the Northern Coastal region.
