Journalism - a voice of critical analysis and a bridge of trust in the new era.

In the fast-paced flow of modern life, the press is a means of conveying information, a mirror reflecting reality, a vibrant forum, and most importantly, a sharp tool for social critique. This role becomes even more urgent and prominent than ever as our country is steadily entering a new era, an era of deep integration, sustainable development, and strengthening national unity. The press, with its sacred mission, is a solid bridge, contributing to consolidating and strengthening trust between the Party and the people, and promoting social consensus.

The voice of the people and public opinion

The history of Vietnamese journalism has proven that, from the early days of the revolution to the present, the press has always accompanied the nation, serving as an honest voice reflecting all aspects of social life. The press not only reports on brilliant achievements and positive changes but also bravely points out shortcomings, existing problems, and thorny issues that need to be addressed. This is a crucial element that creates the critical power of the press.

Social critique through the press is the process of receiving, analyzing, and reflecting the legitimate voices and aspirations of all segments of the population. These include heartfelt contributions to policies and laws; concerns about social ills, corruption, and negative practices; and anxieties about economic , cultural, educational, and health issues. By listening to and transmitting this information, the press creates a two-way communication channel between the people and government levels, helping Party and State leaders to promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the masses, thereby enabling them to make appropriate and practical decisions.

A high-quality, critically insightful article is not simply about "nitpicking" but rather about in-depth, multi-faceted analysis based on scientific evidence, aiming to offer constructive solutions. It's not just a "report" on the current situation, but also a "suggestion" for the future. When the press fulfills this role effectively, it creates positive public opinion, oriented towards true, good, and beautiful values, fighting against evil and backwardness, while simultaneously encouraging and promoting exemplary actions and positive behaviors. The spread of healthy public opinion creates pressure, prompting relevant authorities to intervene and resolve issues thoroughly, contributing to a healthier social environment.

Promoting social consensus

In a diverse and complex society, social consensus is a key factor in maintaining stability and development. The press, with its ability to disseminate information quickly and widely, plays a crucial role in building and strengthening this consensus. When the press reflects social issues truthfully, objectively, and responsibly, it helps citizens better understand the difficulties and challenges facing the country, as well as the efforts and determination of the Party and the State in building and defending the nation.

Especially in the context of globalization and the information explosion, where conflicting information, even false and distorted information, can easily spread, the role of mainstream journalism has become more important than ever. Journalism provides accurate information and guides public opinion, helping people distinguish right from wrong and identify the schemes of hostile forces aiming to divide national unity. By defending the truth and exposing distorted narratives, journalism contributes to maintaining political and social stability, creating a favorable environment for development.

Strengthening the people's trust in the Party.

The new era places higher demands on the role of the press in strengthening trust between the Party and the people. Trust is an invaluable asset, an intrinsic strength that helps the country overcome all difficulties and challenges. When the press effectively fulfills its role of social critique, it will directly contribute to strengthening this trust. On the one hand, when the press bravely speaks out against wrongdoings and negative practices within the system, against the harassment and abuse of power by a segment of officials and Party members, it demonstrates the Party's determination in the process of rectification, self-criticism, and criticism. The people will see that the Party truly listens and truly acts to purify the system and protect the legitimate interests of the people. This further strengthens faith in the Party's leadership and in the path that the Party and the people have chosen.

On the other hand, the press is also an effective channel for conveying the Party's correct policies and guidelines, and the outstanding achievements in the reform process. When people have access to complete and transparent information about the Party's efforts to improve people's lives, develop the economy, and maintain national independence and sovereignty, they will have even more confidence in the Party's leadership. The shining examples and advanced models in learning, labor, and production discovered and disseminated by the press contribute to creating positive energy and strengthening faith in the country's bright future.

However, to fulfill this role effectively, the press also needs to improve itself. This requires journalists to always maintain political integrity and professional ethics, and constantly enhance their professional skills and expertise. Every journalist must be a soldier on the ideological and cultural front, always dedicated to their profession, courageously fighting for truth, justice, and the interests of the people and the country. At the same time, there needs to be a mechanism to encourage and protect courageous and honest journalists in the process of fulfilling their mission of social critique.

In the new era, the role of the press in social critique is not only an essential requirement but also a crucial driving force in building a just, democratic, and civilized society. By becoming the voice of the people, creating positive public opinion, and promoting consensus, the press contributes significantly to strengthening and consolidating trust between the Party and the people, creating a combined strength for our country to rise strongly and steadily on the path of development.
