The quarrying industry is characterized by a working environment with many potential safety risks. Recognizing this, businesses in the northern part of the province, such as the Lung Trang quarry (Cuong Loi commune), Khua Trang (Na Ri commune), and Coc Ngan (Bac Kan ward), have proactively developed safe production processes, strictly controlling every stage from drilling and blasting to extraction, transportation, and processing.
At the Khua Trang quarry, workplace safety is clearly demonstrated in every production shift. As a licensed quarry operator, SH Son Ha Co., Ltd. regularly organizes safety training, conducts drills for handling incidents, and disseminates operating procedures for machinery and equipment to each worker.
The training content is designed to closely reflect production practices, helping workers master skills and improve their ability to respond to any situation.
Mr. Ta Van Buu, Director of SH Son Ha Co., Ltd., said: Before each shift, workers are thoroughly briefed on safety regulations, and their equipment and health are checked. Hazardous areas are marked out and warning signs are posted; technical staff regularly supervise on-site. The machinery system is regularly maintained to ensure stable operation and minimize incidents. As a result, since starting operations in 2023, the company has not had any workplace accidents.
A highlight in workplace safety at the quarries is the comprehensive attention paid by the employer to the workers. At all work sites, workers are provided with full protective equipment such as helmets, dust-proof glasses, masks, gloves, non-slip shoes, specialized clothing, noise-reducing devices, etc.
Beyond simply issuing protective equipment, businesses regularly inspect and remind people to use it, considering it a mandatory requirement in production.
Mr. Nong Quoc Tinh, an excavator operator at the Lung Trang quarry (Cuong Loi commune), shared: "Working at the quarry is hard work, but the company always cares about us. We are provided with full protective equipment, receive safety training, and have our work checked before each shift… so we feel very secure."
In addition, many units have invested in dust-reducing misting systems, improved production lines to reduce noise, and arranged reasonable working hours. Regular health check-ups and occupational disease monitoring are carried out seriously, contributing to the long-term health care of workers.
Mr. Ngo Van Duy, Director of Viet Thang Mineral Joint Stock Company - the unit exploiting the Coc Ngan stone quarry (Bac Kan ward), said: "We always put safety first. The company invests significant funds in training, protective equipment, and improving working conditions. When workers are safe and secure, production will be stable and efficient."
In addition to focusing on internal matters, businesses also closely coordinate with relevant authorities in inspecting and monitoring compliance with labor safety regulations, promptly addressing shortcomings and limitations. This gradually enhances awareness and builds a safety culture in production.
