Let's work together to protect the border and boundary markers.
In Ha Tien ward, many Party branches along the border regularly incorporate the content of propaganda and mobilization of the people to protect the border and boundary markers into their regular meetings. Most recently, at the August 2025 meeting, the Secretary of the Xa Xia neighborhood Party branch, Vu Van Giau, disseminated to all Party members the main contents of legal documents related to border work, including the National Border Law, the Vietnam Border Guard Law, and the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations on managing and protecting territorial sovereignty .

Thanks to concrete methods closely linked to daily life, the awareness of cadres, Party members, and the general public has been significantly raised. Each Party member not only grasps the policies but also becomes an active propagandist within their families, with relatives, and in the community. "At each neighborhood Party branch meeting, we discuss the socio -economic development of the neighborhood; at the same time, we remind each other to always protect the sovereignty of the country's borders and territory as a daily task, linked to the responsibility of Party members," said Mr. Vu Van Giau.
Currently, in Ha Tien ward, there are approximately 7 self-governing community groups, nearly 20 households, and hundreds of residents who have voluntarily registered to participate in self-management of the border and boundary markers. For many years, regardless of late nights or scorching hot days, Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu, residing in Thach Dong neighborhood, has regularly joined the militia and civil defense forces in patrolling the border. For him, contributing to the protection of national boundary markers and maintaining security and order in the border area is both a sacred responsibility and a source of pride. Furthermore, Mr. Trieu actively encourages and educates people in the border area to focus on developing their family economies, complying with the law, and raising awareness in protecting the border and boundary markers. “When the country is at peace, people's lives become stable. Aware of this, my family and many households along the Ha Tien border proactively report any unusual activity by notifying the border guards, and actively cooperate with them in patrolling and maintaining security and order in the area,” Mr. Trieu said.
From national borders to bridges of integration
In the context of integration, border areas also open up opportunities for trade and cooperative development with neighboring countries. Ha Tien has taken advantage of this to develop its border economy, tourism , and trade. Trading activities at border areas are managed transparently, generating revenue while strengthening friendship with Cambodia.
Thanks to policies supporting the development of border trade, the trade of goods between Ha Tien and provinces of Cambodia has become increasingly vibrant, creating a stable source of income for the people. Many households that previously relied solely on farming and small-scale fishing are now boldly opening shops and businesses to serve border residents. Mr. Huynh Cong Bang, residing in Thach Dong neighborhood, shared: “For more than 5 years, thanks to the attention and support of relevant agencies, cross-border trade for my family has been smooth and easier than before. Not only my family, but also people in the border region have more opportunities to do business, increase their income, and improve their living standards.”
However, along with the opportunities of integration, the Ha Tien border region also faces numerous challenges. Smuggling, trade fraud, trafficking of prohibited goods, and even drug crimes constantly seek to infiltrate and exploit the border area for their activities. Therefore, raising the awareness and responsibility of people in the border region in maintaining security and order, and protecting the border and boundary markers, is becoming increasingly important. Lieutenant Le Vinh Phuc - Team Leader of the Public Mobilization Team, Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station, said: “Thanks to regular propaganda, people in the border area have raised their awareness and proactively informed the authorities about suspicious individuals and behaviors. Many households actively participate in self-governing groups along the border and boundary markers, both protecting their living areas and becoming more involved in the task of maintaining national security.”
The image of border guards working and living alongside the local people has contributed to strengthening the bond between the military and the people, creating a solid foundation for border protection. It is from this connection that the people's security posture is consolidated, creating a foundation for the stable development of the Ha Tien border region, promoting economic and trade development, and fostering commerce with neighboring Cambodia.
