Dedicated to a healthy heart.
At An Giang General Hospital, Dr. Pham Huynh Minh Tri, a Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine, is one of the outstanding young doctors contributing to the advancement of interventional cardiology in the province with his solid expertise and dedication. Born in 1992 in Long Xuyen ward into a family with a tradition in medicine and education, and with a desire to contribute to his hometown, he graduated with a general medical degree from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and returned to work at the hospital to complete his master's thesis. He is currently a doctoral candidate specializing in internal medicine and cardiology. He received advanced training in interventional cardiology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and has become one of the youngest chief interventional cardiology technicians in Vietnam.

Over the years, with the support of the leadership of An Giang General Hospital, Dr. Tri has actively participated in training in coronary intravascular imaging (OCT) techniques at the Cardiovascular Center, National University Hospital of Singapore, and continuously pursued further studies at major hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to improve his skills. This systematic learning journey has created a solid professional foundation, enabling him to confidently assume the role of managing and acting Head of the Interventional Cardiology Department of the hospital.
Under Dr. Tri's professional leadership, many modern techniques are routinely implemented with high quality, such as complex coronary artery stenting, pacemaker implantation, automatic defibrillator implantation, and endovascular laser varicose vein (ELVA) treatment for chronic varicose veins. As a result, people in An Giang receive specialized treatment locally, reducing the burden of referrals and optimizing costs for patients. In scientific research, he conducted a project on shortening antiplatelet therapy for patients with high risk of bleeding after stent placement, helping to reduce complications and treatment costs, and is frequently applied in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Vietnam.
Dr. Tri shared: “From sleepless nights in the interventional cardiology room to hours of research, everything is geared towards the mission of ‘Working together for a healthy heart.’ For me, wearing the white coat represents a journey of professional development, responsibility, and belief, an opportunity to contribute more to my homeland.”
In 2025, the Interventional Cardiology Department performed nearly 1,600 surgeries and procedures. Dr. Tri alone performed nearly 800 surgeries, saving lives in critical condition. Dr. Tri's professional reputation is affirmed by his treatment results. As a member of the Executive Board of the An Giang Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Association, the Interventional Cardiology Association, and the Hypertension Association of the Mekong Delta, Dr. Tri contributes to improving cardiovascular expertise in the Southwestern region of Vietnam.
Many new techniques in the field of hemodialysis.
After 23 years dedicated to her profession, Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Specialist II - Head of the Nephrology and Hemodialysis Department at Chau Doc General Hospital, has held many positions. At the end of 2016, she was assigned to manage and treat hemodialysis patients. In 2020, when the Hemodialysis Department was established, she was appointed Head of the Department.
With a deep commitment to her profession, Ms. Thuy continuously studies and researches, developing many new techniques in the field of hemodialysis. In addition to basic routine and emergency hemodialysis techniques, she has also developed specialized and advanced hemodialysis techniques to enhance treatment effectiveness, such as adsorption hemodialysis using resin filters, HDF Online ultrafiltration, continuous hemodialysis, and plasma exchange for the treatment of severe emergency conditions. She has also implemented the technique of placing tunnel catheters with cuffs for long-term hemodialysis, reducing the risk of infection for patients.

With the support and guidance from the Hospital Director and Ms. Thuy's leadership, the Hemodialysis Department has continuously developed new techniques, expanded its operations, and increased the number of dialysis machines to meet the needs of many hemodialysis patients. In January 2025, the hospital further developed its inpatient treatment function in the Urology and Nephrology Department and established the Nephrology - Hemodialysis Department. This allowed for the implementation of peritoneal dialysis techniques, reducing the need to transfer patients to higher-level hospitals.
According to Dr. Thuy, scientific research in the field of hemodialysis at the Department of Nephrology and Artificial Kidney is conducted annually, yielding effective applications in clinical practice at the hospital. On-the-job training for staff is also prioritized. In 2025, the hospital plans to successfully organize workshops in the fields of artificial kidney and peritoneal dialysis, such as optimizing hemodialysis for chronic kidney disease patients and an overview of renal replacement therapy methods and the benefits of peritoneal dialysis. For poor patients with difficult circumstances who cannot afford dialysis, Dr. Thuy connects them with support and assistance to help them maintain their lives. “After many years dedicated to the medical profession, caring for and treating many chronic kidney disease patients with diverse circumstances, I always hope to do more, to do the best I can to help kidney disease patients prolong their lives,” Dr. Thuy confided.
