While drinking, Truong cursed at the people at the table. Angry, Lam took a square piece of wood about 1 meter long and hit Truong on the head, causing 7% injury, then fled the area.

On October 7, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police issued a wanted notice for Lam for intentionally causing injury.

After hiding in many places, on the night of November 10, Lam was arrested by detectives from the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police in coordination with the Rach Tra Waterway Police Station under the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police while hiding on a barge traveling on the river in the area of ​​Phu Hoa Dong commune, Ho Chi Minh City.
