At the ceremony, Ben Tre Provincial Party Secretary Ho Thi Hoang Yen recalled the arduous yet heroic period of struggle, marked by glorious victories. The army and people of Ben Tre bravely rose up against the enemy, with the shining highlight being the "Uprising" on January 17, 1960, under the leadership of General Nguyen Thi Dinh. This created a decisive turning point in the resistance war against the US in Southern Vietnam, shifting from a defensive to an offensive stance, leading to the great victory of Spring 1975 and the successful conclusion of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
Fifty years after liberation, from a land deeply affected by war, Ben Tre has creatively applied and promoted the traditions of the former Dong Khoi uprising through numerous revolutionary policies, resolutions, and action programs. Most notably, the "New Dong Khoi" emulation movement has created a continuous flow between the past, present, and future, gradually propelling the province forward and achieving significant accomplishments in all fields.
The work of showing gratitude and respect to fallen soldiers in Ben Tre has been carried out practically and meaningfully. The province has recognized and granted pensions to nearly 30,000 fallen soldiers, built, gathered, and reburied more than 18,000 graves of fallen soldiers in 17 cemeteries, 152 temples, and 6 memorial plaques bearing the names of fallen soldiers, all built through the joint efforts of the state and the people.
Nearly 7,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers have been awarded and posthumously honored, with 101 surviving mothers being cared for for life by organizations and individuals. More than 11,000 houses of gratitude and thousands of savings accounts have been given to families of war veterans and policy beneficiaries. Policies to provide subsidies and care for war veterans have been implemented promptly.

Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, acknowledged, highly appreciated, and commended the positive socio-economic achievements that the Party Committee, government, and people of Ben Tre province have attained throughout their efforts over the past period.
At the same time, it is requested that Ben Tre province focus on implementing the directives of the General Secretary at the National Conference on the understanding and implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Plenum of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress.
Focus on leading and directing the organization of Party congresses at all levels and the 14th National Party Congress, ensuring it is thorough and systematic in accordance with the spirit of Directive No. 45-CT/TW of the Politburo, especially as we will soon be merging provincial-level administrative units to create new development spaces and conditions. Continuing to promote the spirit of the Đồng Khởi movement during the resistance war against the US to save the nation in the "New Đồng Khởi" emulation movement, achieving and surpassing the set targets...
