Apple's leadership transition is happening very quickly. Following the departure of Alan Dye, a leading UI designer, and AI director John Giannandrea, the tech giant announced further changes in 2026.
Specifically, Kate Adams, who has served as Apple's General Counsel since 2017, will retire at the end of next year. Meanwhile, Lisa Jackson, Vice President for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, will retire at the end of January 2026.
The departure of two leaders in charge of legal and policy matters, amidst Apple's ongoing legal and social challenges, is a noteworthy event.
To replace her, Apple hired Jennifer Newstead as its new General Counsel effective March 1, 2026, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook.
Cook said Newstead will oversee both the Legal and Government Relations departments. “She brings an extraordinary depth of experience and skills to this role and will advance Apple’s important work around the world ,” the Apple CEO emphasized.
Previously, Meta successfully lured Alan Dye, Apple's leading interface designer, in a move considered a major turning point. This reflects the social media giant's ambition to accelerate the development of AI-integrated consumer devices.
Dye, who has held a key position in Apple's user interface design since 2015, will leave the company after notifying the board this week. Apple will appoint veteran designer Stephen Lemay to replace him.
“Steve Lemay has played a vital role in designing every major Apple interface since 1999. He has always set very high standards for excellence and embodies the creative, collaborative culture at the company,” said CEO Tim Cook.
