Transform grief into action.

(Quang Ngai Newspaper) - General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away at 1:38 PM on July 19, 2024, at the age of 80. The passing of the General Secretary is a great loss to the Party, the State, the people of Vietnam, and his family; leaving behind immeasurable sorrow for the people of the whole country and friends around the world . To express our sorrow and remembrance of the General Secretary, the Vietnamese Party and State have decided to organize the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong with the ceremony of a State funeral.

At the same time, the entire Party, army, and people of Vietnam in general, and the Party Committee and people of Quang Ngai province in particular, will resolutely transform this sorrow into action through concrete deeds, to worthily continue the legacy and achievements that Comrade has left for the entire Party and people of Vietnam. This is also a precious tradition of the Vietnamese nation and the wish and heartfelt aspiration of the General Secretary before his passing.

Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong started working very early (in 1967); joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on December 19, 1967; was a member of the Central Committee of the Party from the 7th to the 13th term; a member of the Politburo from the 8th to the 13th term; and served as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms.

At 80 years old and with 57 years of Party membership, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is highly regarded by the entire Party, army, and people as a shining example and model of revolutionary ethics of a communist soldier, dedicating his entire life to the ideals of national independence and socialism, and to the happiness of the people.

Comrade [Name] was a leader of great intellect and talent in the Vietnamese revolution; a thinker, a cultural figure, a theoretical banner of the Party, and an outstanding disciple who constantly studied and followed the thoughts, ethics, and style of the great President Ho Chi Minh. Comrade [Name] dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause of our Party and nation.

In recognition of his exceptionally outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, he was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 55-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious medals and awards from Vietnam and internationally by the Party and the State.

Our country has many advantages and opportunities for development ahead, but at the same time, there are also many challenges, especially given the unpredictable developments in the region and the world.

Therefore, the entire Party, army, and people of Vietnam need to continue to uphold the spirit of unity and the patriotic traditions of our nation; be dynamic, creative, and flexible in carrying out assigned political tasks; proactively perform tasks in all situations, maintaining political stability; promote socio-economic development, take good care of the material and spiritual lives of the people; firmly protect the Fatherland early and from afar; and gain the sympathy and support of friends from other countries and international organizations.

The immediate priorities are to focus on successfully achieving the goals and targets set forth in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party; to effectively carry out the preparations for the Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party; and to hold elections for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

The Party Committee, government, military, and people of all ethnic groups in Quang Ngai province will forever cherish and remember the immense contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who tirelessly dedicated himself to the revolutionary cause of our Party and nation, especially in the process of renovation, construction, and defense of the Fatherland.

In the hearts of every patriotic Vietnamese citizen in general, and the people of the mountainous region of Ấn and the Trà River in particular, the image of Comrade General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng – the highest leader of our Party – who sacrificed himself for the great cause of the Party and the nation, will always be etched. He was also a brilliant intellectual, full of compassion, and lived a simple life, cherished by the people of the whole country and friends around the world.
