(NADS) - Tan Hoa, a small village in Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province, was once known for suffering devastating floods that caused significant loss of life and property. But today, Tan Hoa has made a spectacular turnaround, transforming the difficulties and challenges of flooding into opportunities for tourism development.
This is not just a story of survival, but also a testament to the incredible creativity and adaptability of the people here, "Tan Hoa - a village that lives with floods." Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Minh Hoa District People's Committee, once shared that: The people of Tan Hoa no longer view floods as a fear as before. Instead, they have transformed the flood season into an opportunity to develop tourism , bringing in new income and creating unique experiences for visitors. "For the people, the flood season is no longer a threat from nature but has become an opportunity for tourism development. They have turned the challenge of flooding into a new way of life, completely adapting to the harsh weather conditions," Mr. Dung affirmed.
In the eyes of those who have visited Tan Hoa, it is a symbol of resilience. The locals have developed floating house models, taking advantage of the flood season to welcome tourists and create completely new experiences. Instead of fearing floods, they enjoy life on boats and floating houses bobbing on the water, immersing themselves in nature.
Turning the tables from natural disaster to tourism resource, Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that Tan Hoa is not simply a place that experienced the pain of the past, but has now become a symbol of sustainable tourism and adaptation to harsh weather conditions. "Recalling the historic flood of 2010, when Tan Hoa was engulfed in sorrow and loss, the people faced many difficulties. But now, they have 'turned the tables,' transforming danger into opportunity, thanks to their creativity and remarkable adaptability," Mr. Phong stated. The people of Tan Hoa have learned to utilize natural disasters to build a unique experiential tourism model, attracting domestic and international tourists. In recent years, visitors to Tan Hoa, the world's best tourist village, have come to appreciate the many unique and interesting aspects of this village.
