On January 14, 2026, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 10/KH-UBND on stabilizing the commodity market before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026. The stabilization period will run from December 30, 2025, to February 20, 2026; market inspection and supervision will be carried out until March 15, 2026.
Early implementation, proactive from the start.
According to Nguyen Thanh Phong, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the purpose and requirements of the plan are to promptly and synchronously implement solutions to ensure a balance between supply and demand, stabilize market prices, and fully meet the consumption needs of the people before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026. This will promote the proactive role of businesses in stockpiling, producing, circulating, and distributing essential goods. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, the market stabilization plan is linked to the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign, aiming to contribute to controlling inflation, stabilizing the socio -economic situation, and ensuring social security in the province.

The list of price-stabilized goods is comprehensively defined to meet consumer demand during Tet (Lunar New Year), including staple foods, fresh produce, processed foods, essential consumer goods, gasoline, and liquefied petroleum gas. The overarching goal is to ensure a balance between supply and demand, preventing shortages and unreasonable price increases, especially during the peak Tet shopping season.
At recent meetings, the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Thong Nhat, clearly stated: "Stabilizing the Tet market is not just about preparing enough goods, but more importantly, about maintaining stable prices and ensuring consumer rights, especially in rural, border, and island areas."
Along with preparing the supply of goods, the province has identified market inspection and supervision as a key factor in ensuring the effectiveness of price stabilization measures. The Department of Industry and Trade organized a monitoring team to oversee the supply of price-stabilized goods, conducting direct inspections at fixed and mobile sales points, focusing on price listing, selling at the registered price, allocated quantities of goods, product quality, and food safety.
Delivering goods to islands, ensuring social welfare.
A highlight of the market stabilization efforts for the 2026 Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) is the organization of mobile sales points to bring essential goods to islands and remote areas. According to the plan, Co.opmart Kien Giang will implement mobile sales on islands within the Kien Hai Special Economic Zone, such as Hon Cu Tron, Hon Ngang, Hon Son, and Hon Tre. The program will run from January 19th to January 25th, 2026, for a total of 8.5 days. The goods supplied will focus on essential items for daily life and consumption during Tet (Lunar New Year), with prices guaranteed to be equal to or lower than those on the mainland, helping island residents access goods at reasonable costs and with assured quality. Mr. Hong Truong Giang, representative of Co.opmart Kien Giang, stated: “We consider mobile sales to the islands not only a business activity but also a social responsibility, contributing to the local efforts to stabilize the market and care for the lives of the people during Tet.”

From practical implementation, price stabilization solutions have contributed to curbing hoarding and price-chasing among the people. From mountainous areas to the plains, from the mainland to island communes, goods are abundant, prices are clearly listed, and price-stabilized sales points and mobile vendors operate as committed, creating peace of mind for consumers. Ms. Le Thi Lan, a resident of the Kien Hai special zone, shared: “Thanks to the price stabilization program, people on the islands can buy Tet goods at the same prices as on the mainland. The goods are abundant and of guaranteed quality. Without this program, prices would usually be higher due to transportation costs. This year, with the addition of price-stabilized sales points and mobile vendors, people can shop with peace of mind.”
In the days leading up to Tet, with the coordinated efforts of the government, relevant agencies, and businesses, the market stabilization efforts for Tet 2026 in An Giang not only maintained stable prices but also contributed to ensuring social welfare, allowing people from the central areas to remote regions and islands to celebrate Tet in a prosperous, secure, and joyful atmosphere.
