I met photographer Huynh Vo when she and many other photographers were capturing images of seagulls fighting for food at the Kien River estuary. Her hair was gradually turning gray, but her eyes were still bright. With her experience, every snatch, fight for food, or swift flight of the seagulls in the air was difficult to escape her frame. Ms. Huynh said: "This profession requires patience. Sometimes I stand for hours just to take one picture. But when I press the shutter at the right moment, and everything turns out as I hoped, it feels incredibly fulfilling."

Ms. Huynh's journey into photography began late in life. In her youth, she was busy with work and family. Later, when things settled down, she had more time for herself. One day, while casually photographing underprivileged people receiving aid, she discovered "another world ." She taught herself, experimenting and learning from those who came before her. Gradually, simple photographs, ranging from rural landscapes to everyday life and the lives of working people, appeared more and more frequently in her images.

The more she traveled and took photos, the more passionate Ms. Huynh became. As a result of her creative endeavors, she won her first provincial-level photography award, which, although not a high-ranking one, was a source of immense happiness for her. “I remember my first award was an encouragement prize more than 20 years ago. The work captured the moment poor patients were overjoyed to receive support gifts from benefactors. This award helped me believe that I also had a little bit of photography skill and motivated me to pursue my passion to this day,” Ms. Huynh said.

Later, Ms. Huynh joined the Provincial Photography Association. This gave her many opportunities to travel far and wide for her creative work. “It was tough, but it was fun. Traveling so much made me realize how beautiful our country is. Each region has its own story, its own unique characteristics. My mission is to tell those stories through images,” Ms. Huynh shared.

What makes photographer Vo Thi Huynh highly regarded by the photography community is that her journey goes beyond personal passion; her authentic, emotionally rich photographs have won numerous awards. The titles E.VAPA (Outstanding Photographer awarded by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists) and E.FIAP/s (Outstanding Photographer, Silver level, awarded by the International Federation of Photographic Art) are well-deserved recognition for this female photographer's tireless efforts. “Winning awards is a joy, but it's not everything. The most important thing is that I still have the emotion to photograph, and I still feel moved by beauty,” Ms. Huynh said.

While photographing a sporting event with her, it suddenly started raining. Many photographers rushed to find shelter, but she remained standing in the rain, carefully shielding her camera and continuing to create: "Rain has its own beauty. It would be a shame to miss it," Ms. Huynh said. Looking at her in the rain, I suddenly understood that photography was no longer just a hobby for her, but a part of her life. It nourished her soul, keeping her youthful, enthusiastic, and full of zest for life each new day.

Bidding farewell to photographer Vo Thi Huynh coincided with the time when the seagulls had finished their meal of the freshwater fish that the photographers had used as bait to lure them for their pictures. Ms. Huynh also left, her backpack heavy with cameras, lenses, and even some works she hadn't yet titled.
