As a border area rich in revolutionary traditions, with over 33,000 inhabitants and diverse religious life, Thoi Son identifies coordination with border guards as a key task. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thoi Son ward, the coordination mechanism between the locality and the border guard force has always been effectively maintained, playing a core role in bringing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies closer to the people. "This close cooperation contributes to maintaining political security, acts as a 'lever' to improve people's lives, strengthens trust, and builds a solid foundation of public support," Mr. Hung emphasized.

During the period 2015-2025, the coordination between the Thoi Son Ward People's Committee and the Nhon Hung Border Guard Station was concretized through many practical and effective models. A highlight is the "Helping Children Go to School" program and the "Army Officers and Soldiers Helping Children Go to School" project. With resources exceeding 540 million VND, the program supported 8 disadvantaged students, 5 of whom have been admitted to universities and colleges, opening up opportunities for a better life.
Nguyen Tan Quy, a student in class 8A3 at Nguyen Sinh Sac Secondary School and a recipient of the "Helping Children Go to School" sponsorship program, shared: "The dedicated support and assistance from the border guards have given me the opportunity to continue my studies. I promise to study hard and train well to live up to their expectations."
Social welfare work has also been widely implemented by units and localities with the spirit of "leaving no one behind". The ward government, together with the Nhon Hung Border Guard Station, mobilized resources to build two border-area shelters, totaling 100 million VND; maintaining the "Rice Jar of Compassion" model with more than 2 tons of rice per year to support disadvantaged households. The "Border Guard Spring - Warming the Hearts of the People" program has become a gathering point of compassion, donating more than 600 gifts with a total value of over 120 million VND to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies.
Alongside their work in social welfare, the soldiers in green uniforms actively advise local Party committees and authorities on socio-economic development orientations. At the same time, they directly disseminate information and raise legal awareness among the people, especially regarding the protection of national border sovereignty in the new situation. Captain Le Phuc Nghia, Deputy Political Officer of Nhon Hung Border Guard Station, said: “Coordinating with the Party committee and authorities of Thoi Son ward in implementing socio-economic development programs is a key and ongoing task. This is not only about supporting livelihoods but also contributes to strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the Army, thereby working together to firmly protect national sovereignty.”
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung stated: “In the coming time, Thoi Son ward will continue to clearly define its key orientations: closely monitoring the local area, selecting models suitable to practical needs; strengthening unified leadership and direction; and promoting the proactive role of the border guard force. At the same time, we will mobilize resources from the political system and the people to expand livelihood support programs and care for vulnerable groups, especially women and children in border areas.”
