BKAV reduces Bphone price by up to 49%.

Bkav announced a nearly 50% price reduction on a phone model launched in 2021 to show appreciation to customers and celebrate its 11th anniversary.

On May 25th, to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the launch of the first generation Bphone, the official Bphone fanpage announced a deep discount promotion for the Bphone A50. This move attracted attention from the technology community. The fact that the Vietnamese mobile phone manufacturer adjusted the price of a product launched in 2021, without a successor yet, generated a wave of discussion.

Specifically, according to the company's Facebook announcement, the program runs from May 25th to June 25th, or ends early if stocks run out. The program is notable for its discount of up to 49% on the Bphone A50, bringing the price down to just over 2 million VND. Initially, the device was listed at nearly 4.5 million VND. After almost 5 years, the company has not released sales figures for the phone. Market reports also do not mention this phone model from BKAV.

In fact, last year, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, BKAV also launched a similar discount program for the A50 product on e-commerce platforms. Data from Shopee shows that the company sold 216 units, but the model has since been removed from the list.

In May 2015, Bkav launched the first-generation Bphone, sparking debate about its price and advertised features. The Bphone A-series, including the A40, A50, A60, and A85, was launched as a strategic shift. Instead of manufacturing everything themselves, Bkav switched to original design manufacturing (ODM) to optimize costs, bringing the product down to the mid-range and budget segments, making it more accessible to a wider range of users.

However, BKAV's budget products haven't made much of an impact on the market. In the low-end segment, the devices face competition from many Chinese rivals with strong specifications and prices. Even after a price reduction to around 2 million VND, the Bphone A50 isn't a particularly attractive option. Launched in 2021, it features a MediaTek Helio G85 processor and a 5,000 mAh battery.
