According to cybersecurity experts, facial images are sensitive biometric data. When users upload personal photos to AI applications of unknown origin, the data can be collected, stored, or used for various purposes without the user's control. Some malicious groups may exploit these images to create deepfake videos , impersonate individuals, commit financial fraud, or facilitate illegal activities online.
The Ministry of Public Security is currently coordinating with relevant agencies to develop and advise on the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Law. This law clearly prohibits activities that exploit AI to deceive or manipulate human perception; and prohibits the collection and use of data in violation of the law. The Ministry of Public Security will strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially with neighboring countries, in detecting, combating, and thoroughly addressing all types of cybercrime. Every citizen needs to equip themselves with skills and be vigilant when participating in cyberspace. When noticing any unusual signs, they should check and contact the police.
