Ministry of Interior: Temporarily suspending the submission of proposals for the reorganization of district and commune-level administrative units.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Ministry of Interior has requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities to temporarily suspend the submission of proposals for the rearrangement and establishment of district-level and commune-level administrative units as stipulated in Resolution No. 1211/2016/UBTVQH13.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Truong Hai Long signed a document sent to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities regarding the temporary suspension of certain tasks and work related to administrative units at all levels.

The official document states that, in implementing Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW dated February 28, 2025, of the Politburo and the Secretariat on researching and proposing further restructuring of the political system's organizational apparatus, this includes developing a plan to merge some provincial-level administrative units, eliminating district-level units, and continuing to merge commune-level administrative units.

The official letter also relies on document No. 1824/VPCP-NC dated March 7, 2025, from the Government Office , which requests the Ministry of Interior to study the appropriate time to submit to the Government the proposal for establishing an urban administrative unit.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Interior has requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities to temporarily suspend the submission of proposals for the rearrangement and establishment of district-level and commune-level administrative units as stipulated in Resolution No. 1211/2016/UBTVQH13.

Simultaneously, the classification of administrative units at all levels is temporarily suspended; the appraisal and acceptance of administrative boundary records and maps (Project 513) are temporarily suspended, as well as the creation, revision, and supplementation of administrative boundary records and maps according to the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period.

The Ministry also proposed temporarily suspending the construction of the master plan component for district and commune-level administrative units for the period up to 2030 and with a vision to 2045, as per document No. 8657/BNV-CQĐP dated December 31, 2024, until a new policy is issued by the competent authority.
