Ministry of Home Affairs: Temporarily suspends the submission of the project to rearrange administrative units at district and commune levels.

(Dan Tri) - The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to temporarily suspend the submission of projects to arrange and establish administrative units at district and commune levels as prescribed in Resolution No. 1211/2016/UBTVQH13.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Truong Hai Long signed an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities regarding the temporary suspension of a number of tasks and work related to administrative units at all levels.

The document clearly states that, implementing Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW dated February 28, 2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat on researching and proposing to continue to reorganize the apparatus of the political system, including the content of developing a project to merge a number of provincial-level administrative units (UDs), not organizing at the district level and continuing to merge communal-level administrative units.

The dispatch is also based on Document No. 1824/VPCP-NC dated March 7, 2025 of the Government Office, which requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to study the appropriate time to submit to the Government a project to establish urban administrative units.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to temporarily suspend the submission of projects to arrange and establish administrative units at district and commune levels according to the provisions of Resolution No. 1211/2016/UBTVQH13.

At the same time, temporarily suspend the work of classifying administrative units at all levels; temporarily suspend the appraisal and acceptance of records and administrative boundary maps (Project 513), as well as the creation, adjustment and supplementation of records and administrative boundary maps according to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period.

The Ministry also proposed to temporarily suspend the construction of the master plan for district and commune-level administrative units for the period up to 2030 and vision to 2045 according to Document No. 8657/BNV-CQDP dated December 31, 2024, until there is a new policy from the competent authority.
