Frustration… petty theft

At noon one day in late May 2023, two strangers on a motorbike climbed over the fence, trying to steal the cage; inside, there was a very beautiful singing silver-cheeked thrush belonging to Mr. Ty A, residing in Phu Thuong ward ( Hue city).

Fortunately, Ty A's family and neighbors discovered the incident in time, so the two strangers got into the car and fled. Learning from his experience, Ty A hung the bird cage and his starling more carefully. In reality, not everyone is as lucky as Ty A.

Recently, a resident of An Cuu Ward (Hue City) was attacked by two young men riding a motorbike, who took advantage of the noon hour to sneak into his yard and take away his starling bird and its cage. Through the camera footage, the resident was able to identify the license plate number of the vehicle and reported it to the An Cuu Ward Police.

“Taking advantage of the noon hour when the house’s rolling gate was not down, two young men drove straight into the yard, picked up a stack of stainless steel chairs, and then got on their motorbike and escaped. When the family checked the camera, they saw this action of the subjects,” said Mr. Nguyen XT, a resident whose business in Vy Da ward (Hue city) was robbed.

“There is nothing they won’t take. Assets worth a few hundred thousand dong are easy for them to take and sell,” said a resident in Thuy Van ward (Hue city).

Not only petty theft, on these hot days, criminals have also taken advantage of people's carelessness to steal property.

Previously, at 5:30 a.m. on May 22, 2023, Hoang MT (born in 1994), residing in Thuan Hoa ward (Hue city), drove a motorbike to find a house that was not open to steal property. When arriving at house number 190 Ton That Thiep street, Tay Loc ward (Hue city), T. discovered that the house was not locked and the fence was low, so he climbed the fence, broke into the house, stole 2 valuable phones and quickly escaped.

Upon receiving the victim's report, the Criminal Police Department of Hue City Police urgently coordinated with Tay Loc Ward Police to organize forces to verify and investigate the subject. By 3 p.m. the same day, the criminal investigation force had clarified and arrested T., confiscating evidence of the theft.

To prevent property theft, Hue City Police recommend that people check and lock their doors carefully before going to bed or leaving the house. It is currently the hot season, people often open windows, vents, side doors... so they should be very careful to avoid thieves climbing the stairs, climbing the fence to break in and steal property.

Talking to many people, petty theft is not new and is a small matter. However, if there are no solutions and drastic intervention from the police force, it is also a problem worth discussing. People do not have a big mentality of losing property, so they do not report to the police force to coordinate the solution.

What people need most is, in addition to their cooperation, to hope that the police force will also be more "enthusiastic" in handling reports and crime accusations to quickly find the subjects and strictly handle them according to the provisions of the law.

Local authorities and Party committees need to regularly assign forces to coordinate with ward and commune police to patrol, control, and monitor the area to prevent and handle this problem, ensuring peace for people's lives.

People need to raise their awareness, absolutely not be subjective, neglect even the smallest things. Petty theft, do not think small things. Just one minute of carelessness, subjectivity, bad subjects will steal property, affecting life. From small assets, there will be large assets, so people need to be more vigilant.
