With an area of ​​over 134 km² and a population of over 38,000 people, Hiep Thanh is the ward with the largest population, area, and development space in Ca Mau province after the merger. This is an important prerequisite for the formation of a modern, dynamic, and influential urban center.

It's easy to identify Hiep Thanh with its unique strengths: marine economy, clean energy, and ecotourism . These three pillars of sustainable development are well-defined, and the potential for growth is vast, as if gazing out at the boundless East Sea.

Hiep Thanh is located on the East Coast Economic Corridor, with convenient transportation connections via road, waterway, and sea. The inter-regional transportation system is seamless, connecting with National Highway 1, the Southern Hau River axis, and the East Coast road network. These are major arteries that facilitate the expansion of trade, industrial development, services, and tourism.

With 12.5 km of coastline, Hiep Thanh ward possesses all the necessary conditions for comprehensive marine economic development, from fishing, aquaculture, and seafood processing to trade, logistics services, and marine tourism. Furthermore, its advantages in wind, sunshine, and mangrove ecosystems create a large-scale renewable energy system with 3 wind power projects totaling over 241 MW (phases I and II have been completed, and phase III is underway). This provides a strong impetus for the development of a green economy, clean energy, and sustainable industry.

Besides its economic advantages, Hiep Thanh is also known and remembered as a land rich in cultural and historical resources and scenic spots. These include ancient longan orchards over a hundred years old, the Bac Lieu bird sanctuary, and offshore wind farms. It also boasts spiritual sites such as the Quan Am Buddha Statue, Xiêm Cán Pagoda , and Trúc Lâm Zen Monastery, along with many traditional festivals reflecting the distinct identities of the Khmer, Chinese, and Kinh ethnic groups. Each year, the ward welcomes millions of domestic and international tourists for sightseeing, pilgrimage, and relaxation, solidifying its brand on the tourism map of the Mekong Delta and the entire country.

Mr. Tran Minh Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hiep Thanh Ward, affirmed: “After the merger, the Hiep Thanh Ward government apparatus has been streamlined and operates according to a new model, ensuring effectiveness, efficiency, and smooth operation. Measuring the quality of work and the satisfaction of the people to evaluate the apparatus and personnel is a consistent criterion of the locality. People's trust and satisfaction, bringing tangible benefits to the people, is the core value of the new model and the new organizational structure.”

Hiep Thanh is developing strongly with a solid foundation built on its proximity to and orientation towards the sea.

Accordingly, the crucial and fundamental task is to focus on building and rectifying the Party and the political system. This includes promoting digital transformation within the Party and in management and administration. Building a professional, honest, and service-oriented public service culture that brings satisfaction, trust, and benefits to the people and businesses. Alongside this, the locality focuses on building a team of officials who are "dedicated, competent, and reputable," upholding a high sense of responsibility and public service ethics, and strictly implementing regulations on setting a good example for officials and Party members.

The ward Party Committee focuses on comprehensively leading the implementation of the two-tiered local government model with a high sense of responsibility and a proactive spirit. The local political system focuses on building specific action programs, clearly assigning responsibilities to specific individuals and tasks. Cadres and civil servants are deployed and assigned appropriately to meet job requirements. Administrative reform, digital transformation, urban management, land management, and social welfare are implemented synchronously, creating significant improvements in serving the people.

Building on its existing foundation, Hiep Thanh boldly "thinks big, dreams big" and needs additional resources and policy mechanisms to realize its aspiration to reach greater heights. Identifying three strategic breakthroughs by 2030 reflects a long-term vision for future development. These are: investing in the synchronized development of infrastructure – transportation and urban areas, completing the main network of vertical and horizontal axes; completing new residential areas and centralized administrative zones, ensuring a harmonious, dynamic, modern, and green urban environment.

The goal is to develop Hiep Thanh into a regional and national-scale center for coastal, ecological, and spiritual tourism. The focus will be on developing key projects such as: the Nha Mat Ecological Urban Area, the Mangrove Forest Tourism Area, the Bac Lieu Coastal Urban Area, and high-end resorts and nursing homes along the coast; striving to gradually ensure that the Nha Mat Tourist Area meets the criteria for recognition as a National Tourist Area by 2030.

“ The key investment projects that have been completed and are currently being implemented, such as: the Bac Lieu Wind Power Project Phases I and II, Bac Lieu Wind Power Project Phase III, the Hiep Thanh and Vinh Trach Dong Mixed Ecological Urban Area, the High-Tech Agricultural Zone for Shrimp Development, the Vietnam-Australia Seafood Processing Plant... are prerequisites for promoting local socio-economic development in the 2025-2030 period,” Mr. Lam Danh Nhan affirmed.

From the sources of development, the burning ambition, and the combined efforts for success, the future appearance of Hiep Thanh is clearly envisioned as a model coastal city in the southernmost province of the country.
