Distinguished Physician, Dr. Ngo Thanh Tan, Deputy Director of the Ca Mau Provincial Eye and Dermatology Hospital, who has made many contributions to the health sector, has just been awarded the Second Class Labor Medal.

Dr. Ngo Thanh Tan was born in 1969 in the former Gia Rai town. From 2017 to 2020, he served as Deputy Director of the Center for Prevention and Control of Social Diseases in Ca Mau province. After the unit was reorganized into the Eye and Dermatology Hospital, he continued to hold the position of Deputy Director of the hospital.

Throughout his years of service in various departments and wards, from his time in office to his managerial role, Dr. Ngo Thanh Tan has consistently honed and developed his professional knowledge. With a strong sense of responsibility, he proactively developed professional plans that closely aligned with national health program goals and the local context, providing timely advice to unit leaders and the Department of Health for effective implementation.

The most important aspect of our work is bringing positive value to patients, especially the poor. During the period 2017-2020, my colleagues and I promoted the socialization of eye surgery programs to restore sight to the poor and blind. As a result, we mobilized resources to perform over 34,900 surgeries, bringing light and hope to the people.

Simultaneously, Dr. Tan also promoted activities to control refractive errors in schools , conduct eye examinations for people over 50, and establish refractive units at former district health centers. These initiatives were implemented comprehensively, contributing to improving the quality of primary eye care.

From November 2020 to the present, in his capacity as Deputy Director of the Ca Mau Provincial Eye and Dermatology Hospital, Dr. Tan has continued to excel in professional management. Together with the management team, he has focused on improving the quality of examination and treatment of eye and dermatological diseases; rationally allocating personnel; organizing scientific screening; and reducing waiting times for patients. Many advanced techniques have been effectively implemented, such as strabismus surgery, ptosis surgery, treatment of diabetic retinopathy, and emergency treatment of ocular perforation trauma.
