At the I/O 2026 developer conference on May 20th, Google officially unveiled its Gemini Spark platform, a personal AI agent designed to navigate digital life and perform tasks on behalf of users.
According to the search giant, this AI agent will operate across many of Google's products and run on the company's cloud infrastructure.
"We've been providing AI agents to developers and businesses for some time now. Currently, we're highly focused on bringing the pioneering capabilities of AI agents to consumers safely and securely, so they can serve everyone," said CEO Sundar Pichai.
Google further revealed that it has been testing Spark with a small group of users and expects to officially release it next week for customers who subscribe to AI Ultra – the new service plan priced at $100 per month.
Alongside Gemini Spark, Google also announced the rollout of Gemini Omni, a tool capable of creating videos from various input sources including text, audio, and images.
"This tool can create extremely high-quality videos, and you can interact with them after they're finished. You can imagine that this feature will build a highly instructional experience when exploring a problem," said Koray Kavukcuoglu, chief AI architect at Google.
In addition to the software, Google also showcased its latest smart glasses model that can be controlled by voice, calling the Gemini chatbot for directions, translation, displaying text and images, and performing tasks such as ordering food through the DoorDash app.
This move is believed to be aimed directly at Meta, which has sold over 7 million pairs of Ray-Ban AI glasses by 2025. It also marks the first time in 11 years since Google discontinued the consumer version of its heavily criticized Google Glass line.
