The Laboratory of Biological and Clinical Research, under the Vietnam Institute of Ginseng and Medicinal Plants Research, strategically funded by Thai Minh Hi-Tech and Thai Minh Pharmaceutical Group, is a next-generation research platform connecting indigenous medical heritage with modern biomedical advances.
The research lab not only screens for bioactive compounds from medicinal plants, but also focuses on developing cost-effective cancer treatments through: discovering new compounds from indigenous medicinal plants and repositioning existing drugs.
In particular, with a development focus on cell-based screening and testing, new opportunities will open up with systematic biological effects, starting from small-scale studies at the cellular level, gradually progressing to preclinical studies and, in the future, clinical research, enabling full participation in the research and development of products from medicinal plants as well as chemical drugs.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thai Minh Pharmaceutical, Nguyen Quang Thai, shared that, in the context of pharmaceutical companies still lacking systematic investment in scientific research, Thai Minh chose to take the difficult path, doing what few others do, seriously investing in a biological laboratory with full research capabilities from basic to preclinical levels.

With strong research capabilities, businesses can become self-reliant in product development while meeting the increasingly stringent standards of the market and regulatory bodies.
"From now on, Thai Minh products will not only be manufactured using modern machinery, but will also be backed by clear, transparent scientific data that meets international standards," Mr. Thai emphasized.
Pham Ha Thanh Tung, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Ginseng and Medicinal Plants, shared that Vietnam possesses abundant and valuable medicinal resources, but only by mastering the technology and conducting research can we truly unlock that potential.
With its high-quality personnel and state-of-the-art equipment, this laboratory will be the starting point for a long-term strategy: screening, testing, and developing drugs from cell to clinical levels. It is not only a research center but also a foundation for affirming Vietnam's inherent capabilities on the global scientific and medical map.

Also at the ceremony, Thai Minh Pharmaceutical appointed Dr. Vo Thuy Lu Tam as the Director of the Drug Development Project. Dr. Vo Thuy Lu Tam is a scientist with extensive research experience in the fields of biology and molecular pharmacology. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cancer, cell signaling, immune checkpoints, and targeted drug development.
With the support of Dr. Vo Thuy Lu Tam and strategic direction, the Clinical Biology Laboratory promises to become a key hub connecting the research ecosystem both domestically and internationally.
In the near future, the Vietnam Institute of Ginseng and Medicinal Plants will expand its cooperation with leading laboratories, research institutes, and universities in Vietnam and internationally, creating a solid foundation for the development of herbal therapies.
Building on these solid steps, Thai Minh expects that within the next 5 to 10 years, there will be significant scientific publications on herbal medicine, leading to the development of groundbreaking therapies bearing the Vietnamese mark, affirming the position of Vietnamese medicinal herbs on the world medical map.
