- After a period of implementation, the 2026 economic census in the province has achieved positive results. Following the directives from higher authorities to shorten the time for the 2026 economic census, all levels and sectors are currently implementing solutions to accelerate the census according to the adjusted plan.
The 2026 Economic Census aims to assess the current state and trends of socio-economic development, serving as a basis for evaluating the situation and developing socio-economic development plans and policies. The data collection period is divided into two phases (phase 1: collecting information on individual production and business establishments, religious and belief establishments, and cooperatives from January 5th to March 31st, 2026; phase 2: collecting information on enterprises, non-public service units, associations, and foreign non- governmental organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam from April 1st to August 31st, 2026).

As of February 26, 2026, the province had collected information on 100% of cooperatives; 90% of religious and belief establishments; and nearly 72% of individual production and business establishments.
To expedite the census and ensure accurate data for timely socio-economic development management, on February 9, 2026, the Central Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census held a conference to implement and review the plan. Accordingly, some adjustments were made: in Phase 1, the data collection period in the province was shortened by 20 days, ending on March 10, 2026; in Phase 2, the data collection period was shortened by 4 months, starting on March 1, 2026 and ending on April 30, 2026. To ensure the progress of the central government's adjustments, the Provincial Steering Committee for the Economic Census directed the statistics agency and other relevant agencies to focus on implementing specific solutions in a coordinated manner.
Ms. Le Thi Van Anh, Acting Head of the Provincial Statistics Department, stated: The Provincial Steering Committee has issued directives urging relevant agencies and units to promptly implement measures. Specifically, it requires the steering committees of communes and wards throughout the province to urgently inspect, supervise, and take full responsibility for the progress of implementation in their respective areas; strengthen communication; and direct enumerators to dedicate maximum time to data collection… On February 26, 2026, the Provincial Statistics Department organized a training conference to provide information and equip personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare for data collection in phase 2.
With close guidance from the province, relevant units are also urgently implementing solutions to accelerate the progress of the general census. Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung, Head of the Loc Binh Statistics Department, said: To date, in the area under his unit's management, the collection of information from religious and belief establishments and cooperatives has been completed; the rate of individual production and business establishments has reached nearly 87%. To speed up the progress, the unit is focusing on reviewing, inspecting, urging, and resolving difficulties and obstacles that arise; strengthening coordination in propaganda; proactively supplementing enumerators for each area to suit the actual progress… Striving to complete the information collection of phase 1 as soon as possible and preparing the best conditions to carry out phase 2 as planned.
Alongside the close supervision of all levels and sectors, investigators directly collecting information at the grassroots level are also focusing on implementing measures to accelerate the progress. Ms. Duong Thi Hanh, an investigator in Ky Lua and Dong Kinh wards, said: "In phase 1 of the general census, I completed collecting information from 200 individual business households. To ensure the progress and quality of information collection in phase 2, I participated in a training course organized by the Provincial Statistics Department to improve my skills and perform my duties well. After the training course, I continued to coordinate with relevant units to review the list and phone numbers of businesses assigned to collect information. From there, I proactively contacted them by phone and organized direct visits, contributing to the completion of the general census plan."
With the results achieved and the solutions that have been and are being implemented, we are confident that the 2026 economic census in the province will be completed on schedule.
On February 26, 2026, the Provincial People's Committee issued Directive No. 07/CT-UBND on accelerating the progress of the 2026 economic census in the province. This directive requires relevant levels and sectors to organize and implement the census according to their assigned functions and tasks; and directs business leaders to instruct their specialized departments to cooperate with enumerators to provide complete and accurate information. Regarding timelines, information collection for individual production and business establishments, cooperatives, and religious and belief establishments must be completed no later than March 5, 2026; for enterprises, non-public service units, associations, production and business establishments under administrative units, public service units, and foreign non-governmental organizations, the deadline is April 25, 2026. |
