Promoting the values of rice-based civilization, the foundation for sustainable development.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, said that the construction of the Rice Museum and the Symbol honoring rice not only has cultural significance but also is a concrete step in realizing the policy of developing culture into an intrinsic strength of the locality, through educating the younger generation about history and culture and creating unique tourism products.
“Rice has long been more than just a staple food; it's also the root of Vietnamese cultural identity, social life, and spiritual values. For Ca Mau – the southernmost region of Vietnam – rice is also a symbol of the pioneering spirit, adaptability, and resilience of generations of its inhabitants,” Mr. Thanh emphasized.
The museum's highlight is its design as a "living museum," combining exhibits with hands-on experiences, recreating the cultural and agricultural spaces characteristic of the coastal region with farming models such as rice-shrimp and rice-fish farming. This clearly reflects the adaptability of the local population to harsh natural conditions.

Furthermore, the symbol honoring rice – the image of three grains of rice – carries profound meaning, symbolizing the growth cycle, the fruits of labor, and the enduring vitality and rebirth of the rice-based civilization. The project not only possesses artistic value but also becomes a cultural and tourist highlight, contributing to promoting the local image.
According to the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, in the context of urbanization and climate change, many traditional values are facing the risk of disappearing. Therefore, investing in cultural institutions such as the Rice Museum is a way to preserve community memory, conserve production knowledge, and nurture national cultural identity.
In the coming period, relevant authorities will continue to refine the exhibition content, enhance the experiential aspect, promote social participation, and integrate it with tourism development. The goal is to make the Rice Museum an attractive destination and a cultural and historical education space for the community.

The implementation of these projects is considered a significant milestone, demonstrating the province's determination to preserve and promote the value of agricultural cultural heritage – the foundation for sustainable development in the future.
Connecting heritage – opening the way for sustainable tourism development.
According to Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the establishment of the Ca Mau Provincial Rice Museum and the Symbol honoring rice is not simply about building a cultural institution, but also about affirming responsibility in preserving memories, conserving values, and inspiring future generations.

"This will be a place to preserve valuable artifacts and documents, a space to vividly recreate the history of labor and creativity of our ancestors, and a 'red address' for traditional education. At the same time, it will be a bridge between the past, present, and future," Mr. Thang emphasized.
The establishment of the Ca Mau Rice Museum and the symbol honoring rice cultivation also contributes to the implementation of major orientations for cultural development, emphasizing the need to preserve and promote the value of national cultural heritage; building modern cultural institutions, and contributing to the formation of a comprehensively developed Vietnamese person.

In particular, these two projects open up new avenues for harmoniously combining cultural heritage preservation with tourism development, connecting cultural and historical value chains to form a "heritage route," developing unique tours and routes, and contributing to making Ca Mau an attractive destination in the Mekong Delta region.
| The official establishment of the Ca Mau Provincial Rice Museum is a project of profound historical and cultural significance. The museum serves as a repository and conservation center for the values of rice civilization in general and rice cultivation in Ca Mau – the southernmost point of Vietnam – in particular. It demonstrates the special attention of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee to heritage preservation and the promotion of traditional values, contributing to fostering pride and responsibility in building and developing Ca Mau in the new era. |
