Since June, the demand for school and class reunion uniforms has surged, keeping garment workers in Ha Tinh busier than ever.

At Khue tailoring shop (Xuan Dieu Street, Ha Tinh City), the atmosphere is one of urgency and hustle. Nearly a dozen workers are concentrating intensely on completing orders for school uniforms that many primary and secondary schools in the area have placed.

The owner of the Khue tailoring shop checks the quality of the products before delivering them to customers.

Ms. Tran Thi Ha, owner of Khue tailoring shop, said: “Normally, our shop produces 500-800 products per month, but recently, the demand for class reunion uniforms and school uniforms has increased dramatically, so we have to try to complete 2,500-3,500 products per month. Despite the high demand, the prices of our products remain stable. Class reunion uniforms cost 200,000-300,000 VND/set, elementary school uniforms cost 150,000-200,000 VND/set, and middle and high school uniforms range from 250,000-350,000 VND/set depending on the material and style.”

Due to a large number of orders, workers at Khue garment factory have to work overtime to meet delivery deadlines. “Normally, I only sew 8-10 products a day, but now it’s up to 30 products a day. Although it’s hard work and requires overtime, the increased income makes us very happy. Before, my monthly salary was only 5-6 million VND, but now it’s up to 10 million VND,” said Ms. Le Thi Dinh (residing in Thach Lac commune, Thach Ha district) excitedly.

At the market in Ha Tinh City, uniform tailoring establishments are also busy fulfilling orders. To meet customers' aesthetic preferences, business owners are focusing on diversifying fabric materials and innovating design styles towards elegance and modernity.

Ms. Luong Thi Hoai – Owner of Le Thanh tailoring shop (Ha Tinh City market) shared: “Currently, in addition to tailoring uniforms for students in schools in Ha Tinh City, our shop also handles uniforms for students and teachers of Thien Loc and Vuong Loc kindergartens (Can Loc district)... To ensure aesthetics and comfort, we choose suitable fabrics. Regarding design, besides adhering to the school's specifications, our shop always focuses on comfort, lightness, and convenience for students' activities.”

Ms. Le Hoai Thuong (Tran Phu Ward, Ha Tinh City) said: “Currently, tailor shops have ready-made uniform designs from schools in the area, making it very convenient for parents to choose. In addition, there are many types of fabric available, so it suits the budget of consumers.”

Workers in garment factories are delighted as orders increase and incomes improve.

For about the past three years, many high schools in Ha Tinh have shifted from school uniforms to traditional ao dai dresses for female students. As a result, ao dai design and tailoring businesses in the area have also received many more orders.

Ms. Duong Thi Thanh, owner of Duong Thanh ao dai tailoring facility (Ha Tinh City), said: “Before the start of the new school year this year, the demand for ordering ao dai uniforms for female students at high schools has increased, so ao dai design and tailoring facilities in the area have more work. Currently, we are focusing on tailoring ao dai uniforms for female students at high schools in Ha Tinh City, Cam Xuyen, Nghen High School (Can Loc)...”

To create an elegant ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) and ensure comfort for female students, in addition to focusing on tailoring techniques, our workshop pays meticulous attention to fabric quality. We prioritize selecting lencii fabric and Thai Tuan brocade, along with designs in the traditional V-neck style. Each ao dai costs between 400,000 and 600,000 VND, depending on the material.”

As the new school year approaches, the demand for custom-made ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) for female students in high schools across the area is increasing.

According to reports, garment factories in Ha Tinh are currently operating at full capacity, with revenue increasing by 30-50%. Although workers at these facilities are under considerable pressure regarding deadlines and product quality, their wages and bonuses have improved significantly.
