Born with congenital hearing impairment, Bui Quang Anh (born in 2009), from Can Loc commune, faced many difficulties in communication and learning from a young age. At the age of 6, his family sent him to study at the Hong Linh Center for Supporting Development and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities. Thanks to the love and encouragement of the nuns and teachers there, Quang Anh gradually gained confidence and interest in his studies.

Unable to hear or speak, each lesson is a persistent journey of learning for Quang Anh. Especially when learning to paint, he has to put in twice the effort and patience. Besides his skillful hands, Quang Anh must carefully observe the teachers' gestures, sense their expressions, and patiently use his imagination to convey those feelings through each brushstroke.
From those first brushstrokes, his passion was gradually "awakened." His special love for painting blossomed when Quang Anh consecutively won third prize nationwide at the Painting Competition for Deaf Students in 2025 and 2026.
Quang Anh shared: “I really enjoy drawing, especially landscape paintings. I feel very happy and grateful to have the dedicated guidance and support from the nuns and teachers here, allowing me to learn and pursue my passion. I will try even harder to become a useful person, first and foremost by helping the children at the center learn to draw better.”

Quang Anh's story is also a reflection of the more than 250 students receiving educational support at the Hong Linh Center for Developmental Support and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities. Each child faces unique difficulties related to hearing, communication, or development, but they all share a common desire to learn, attend school, and integrate with their peers. In each lesson, they attentively follow the teacher's signs to learn letters and patiently piece together numbers to solve math problems. Some children have severe disabilities affecting both their physical and intellectual abilities, yet they diligently study and practice every day.

In addition, many children also get to experience art subjects. In music class, for those who are touching a piano for the first time, feeling the melody with their own hands, their eyes and smiles clearly show their delight.
Le Duc Tan (from Cam Due commune), a student at the Hong Linh Center for Supporting Development and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities, shared: “Every day I come to class and I'm very happy to learn to read, play the piano, and play with my friends. Although I've only been studying for a short time, I can already play several songs proficiently. I will try to study even better.”

The journey of integrating disabled children into the community is also quietly nurtured by the mothers and aunts at the Ha Tinh Orphanage with love every day. Most of the children here have severe disabilities, many suffering from multiple impairments simultaneously. They are of varying ages, physical conditions, and cognitive abilities, so caring for, educating, and supporting them requires exceptional patience.

For children with disabilities, the journey to acquiring knowledge is never easy. Some take a long time to recognize letters or memorize simple numbers; some have difficulty concentrating in class; and some face language barriers, requiring step-by-step support in reading, writing, and expressing their thoughts.
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Huong, a teacher at the Ha Tinh Orphanage, said: “Each child has a unique situation and a different ability to learn, so teachers must be very patient and find suitable methods. Some skills need to be taught repeatedly, but we are very happy when the children make even small progress.”

In addition to classroom learning, inclusive education institutions also focus on engaging children in outdoor activities, group activities, cultural exchanges, physical games, talent classes, and numerous competitions for people with disabilities nationwide. Through these activities, each child's unique abilities are gradually discovered, nurtured, and developed.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Toan, Director of the Hong Linh Center for Supporting Development and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities, stated: “Currently, the center is caring for, nurturing, and supporting the education of over 250 students with various disabilities. We apply many appropriate teaching methods, combined with therapeutic interventions, to help them develop their cognitive abilities, language skills, and life skills. In addition, the center also pays special attention to identifying and nurturing talents in each child through activities such as painting, music, and sports, encouraging them to participate in national competitions for people with disabilities… Through this, we help them become more confident and assertive in integrating into the community.”

Despite physical disadvantages or communication limitations, many children with disabilities strive every day to overcome their insecurities and personal barriers to access knowledge and integrate into the community. With unwavering determination and a burning desire to learn, to be loved, and to live like their peers, they are writing beautiful stories of willpower and faith in the future.
To ensure children with disabilities have the opportunity to integrate into the community, it is crucial to create a suitable learning environment, enabling them to access education early and receive support through specialized methods. In the coming time, the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans in Ha Tinh province will continue to coordinate with relevant units and localities to promote vocational training and career guidance, helping them gradually develop work skills and become independent in life. We hope that every child with disabilities will have the opportunity to develop their abilities, live, study, and participate equally in society.
