(Baohatinh.vn) - Dedication and approachability are familiar images of Mr. Nguyen Van Son - Chairman of the Trade Union of Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company (Duc Tho commune, Ha Tinh province) in his journey of accompanying and caring for workers.

Amidst the bustling production pace of Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company, with over 400 workers diligently working on the assembly line, Mr. Nguyen Van Son (born in 1981) - Party Secretary and Chairman of the Company's Trade Union - still meticulously checks quality, reminds each department of its progress, and discusses work with team leaders and the human resources department.

Mr. Son always pays close attention to understanding the thoughts and aspirations of the workers.

Leaving the factory, he continued his role as a trade union official, working with the Executive Committee to plan activities for Workers' Month, including a retreat in Quang Tri for all employees. For him, each activity was not just a movement but also a way to retain and support employees, ensuring their long-term commitment to the company.

Simultaneously holding multiple roles: Party Branch Secretary, Trade Union Chairman, and Chief Accountant, 24 hours a day still seems insufficient for him. However, in every position, he clearly demonstrates the responsibility and exemplary conduct of a Party member and the dedication of a trade union official.

Nearly eight years ago, when the Trade Union of Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company was newly established, Mr. Son was elected Chairman. In the early days, there were only 59 union members, most of whom did not fully understand the role of the trade union, making it difficult to encourage their participation in activities. At that time, the company was also in a period of stabilizing production, so the conditions for implementing the movement were limited.

Mr. Son shared: “There were times when I faced the choice of whether to continue or stop. But thanks to the encouragement and guidance of the higher-level trade union and the support of the company's leadership, I told myself I had to try because behind me were the interests and trust of my fellow workers.”

It was this perseverance that helped him gradually build trust and connect workers with the trade union organization.

By being approachable, listening to the thoughts and aspirations of the workers, and having a firm grasp of the production and business situation, Mr. Son, together with the Trade Union Executive Committee, developed a well-structured plan of activities aimed at both caring for and protecting the rights of workers while accompanying the company's development. Many of his proposals and suggestions have been accepted and effectively implemented by the company's leadership. Notably, he successfully negotiated and developed a collective labor agreement with many clauses beneficial to workers, such as: ensuring salaries and bonuses according to regulations; providing meal allowances and transportation; providing adequate personal protective equipment and heat protection; regular health check-ups and recreational trips ; visiting sick workers and those in need; timely rewards; and building a safe and friendly working environment…

Over 400 workers at Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company are guaranteed a secure life, employment, and income.

During periods when the company faced difficulties due to natural disasters, epidemics, and market fluctuations, Mr. Son, in his role as the head of the Party branch and the trade union, always closely monitored the workers' morale, stabilized their thinking, and encouraged them to overcome challenges together. This sharing and support has become an important pillar, contributing to maintaining a stable workforce for the company.

Mr. Phan Tri Nghia, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company, said: “Over the years, the Trade Union Executive Committee has provided practical advice, helping the Board of Directors to issue many appropriate policies. Mr. Nguyen Van Son personally is a person with good professional competence, exemplary and dedicated, always putting the interests of the workers alongside the development of the enterprise.”

This recognition is also clearly reflected in the feelings of the workers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao, a worker who has worked at the company for 5 years, shared: “Mr. Son is very approachable, caring, and wholeheartedly dedicated to the workers. Thanks to his advice and negotiations, many beneficial policies have been implemented. Although the packaging sewing work is quite hard, we remain loyal because of the good working environment and stable income.”

As the chairman of the grassroots trade union, Mr. Son is very concerned about the spiritual well-being of the workers.

With his consistent contributions to the workers' movement and trade union activities, Mr. Son has been honored many times as an "Outstanding Trade Union Cadre" at the district and provincial levels. At the 11th National Emulation Congress for Workers, Public Employees, and Laborers organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in October 2025, he was one of the outstanding representatives from Ha Tinh province.

Not only Mr. Son personally, but the entire Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company also received the title "Enterprise for Workers" (2021, 2022); and was awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Social Security (2023). The company's trade union has achieved outstanding results in trade union activities for many consecutive years, receiving a certificate of merit from the Provincial Labor Federation (2021), an excellent emulation flag (2025); and a certificate of merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (2022).
