The big players are facing difficulties.

Buying players isn't a problem for many big clubs, but offloading those who are no longer a good fit is a difficult challenge for them.

In early June, Man City swiftly brought in three new signings before heading to the US for the FIFA Club World Cup. Three of them were expensive stars: Reijnders, Ait-Nouri, and Cherki. But since then, they have only managed to bring in one more star: goalkeeper James Trafford.

Manchester City haven't closed their transfer window yet. The Etihad Stadium club is still planning at least one more "big-name" signing. Following this, the media speculated that it could be one of two Real Madrid superstars: Rodrygo or Vinicius. But the problem is, City need to sell players before they can buy more.

It's not that Man City needs money. Even a team in disastrous decline like Man United can still spend heavily before selling players. Meanwhile, the Etihad Stadium team has more than enough money to buy any star they want. But the pressure of Financial Fair Play regulations, as well as an abundance of stars in their squad, forces Man City to streamline their team before bringing in new players.

Jack Grealish was confirmed to be leaving Man City immediately after the end of last season, to the point that he didn't even travel with the team to the US for the FIFA Club World Cup. However, after almost three months, Man City is still unable to sell the English superstar. The reason lies in Grealish's exorbitant salary, which amounts to £15.6 million, with two years remaining on his contract.

It's not easy to find a team willing to spend £50 million (the price Man City were asking for) on a 29-year-old player, plus a huge salary. Ultimately, Man City had to loan Grealish to Everton.

But that's not enough. After letting Grealish go, Man City still have five wing forwards. This is more than enough for them to bring in Rodrygo or Vinicius. Therefore, Savinho could be the next to leave. But like Grealish, selling players will not be easy for Man City.

The pressure on Man United is even greater as they aim to raise 200 million euros from sales this summer. But so far, Man United haven't earned a single penny.

Next up is Arsenal, a team that has only managed to offload players whose contracts have expired. Arsenal spent £200 million on players this summer, but have barely recouped any money from sales, even though some stars like Trossard, Vieira, and Gabriel Jesus are still valuable and no longer have a place in the team.

In contrast, Liverpool and Chelsea have already completed their player sales strategies with more than half a month remaining in the transfer window. During the rest of the time, these two English giants can freely spend money without worrying about financial fair play regulations.
