On September 27th, according to observations by reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper, many newly constructed offices such as the Provincial Court, the Tax Department, the Social Insurance Office, and the Provincial People's Procuracy have been put into use along the bypass road of National Highway 1 in Tan An City.
In addition, the old offices located on main roads within Tan An city must close down and are no longer in use.
Moc Hoa Regional General Hospital, located on a site spanning tens of thousands of square meters, has been closed since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Accordingly, the four-story building of the Tan An City Tax Department, located on two main roads, Truong Van Bang and Tra Quy Binh, in Ward 2, Tan An City, although still relatively new, has been abandoned for more than four years. The walls are covered in moss, the paint is peeling, and the roller shutters are rusty.
The area outside the fence has been occupied by locals who use it as a motorbike parking lot and a waiting point for many taxi drivers to pick up and drop off passengers.
The new headquarters of the Long An Provincial Court, located on the bypass road of Tan An City, was put into use in 2021. Since then, the old headquarters, spanning thousands of square meters on Truong Dinh Street, Ward 1, Tan An City, has remained closed.
In addition, many other offices such as the Long An Provincial People's Procuracy, the Social Insurance Office, the Provincial Border Guard Command headquarters, and the Moc Hoa Regional General Hospital located on April 30th Street, Ward 1, Kien Tuong town... have been closed for many years.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi, a retired official from Long An province, the fact that the old headquarters buildings, located on prime real estate with frontage on main roads in the center of Tan An city, are left vacant and unused is a great waste.
"Each of these premises, if rented out, would fetch at least 50 million VND per month because some are very new and conveniently located for business or office use," Mr. Mười said.
The four-story building of the Tan An City Tax Department in Long An province has been closed and locked for many years.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Director of the Long An Department of Construction, said that most of these headquarters were under the management of the central government. However, after the new headquarters were built, the old ones were handed over to Long An province for management and use. The Provincial People's Committee has decided to allocate these offices to some units and localities that need them.
According to Ms. Le Thi Hong Gam, Deputy Director of the Long An Department of Finance, the Department is coordinating with other agencies to review and assess which offices still meet technical standards and will temporarily house units, associations, and organizations.
Some buildings that do not meet technical standards will be handed over to the local authorities, and a report will be prepared to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval by the People's Council to sell them at auction.
Currently, several locations have been assigned to the Provincial Party Committee of State Agencies, which is renovating and repairing them for use; the Provincial Court has been assigned to the Department of Education and Training to expand Nhut Tao Secondary School.
The two headquarters of the Provincial Border Guard Command and the Provincial Social Insurance building have not yet been handed over to the local authorities, so they cannot be dealt with at this time.
