About 1 month left until the new school year 2023-2024 officially begins. At this time, remote schools are racing against time to prepare conditions for the new school year. Although there are still many worries, teachers and students are still very optimistic to welcome the new school year.
Leaders of Tran Phu Secondary School (Long Dien commune, Dong Hai district) check the classroom at an odd point.
Challenging difficulties
Visit Tran Phu Secondary School (Long Dien commune, Dong Hai district) right when the school is fostering summer knowledge and preparing for exams for good students. Looking at the walls peeling, mossy because of time, the cement floor is damp, the furniture is old, the corrugated iron roof is steaming hot into the classroom... but we can't help but feel moved. On heavy rainy days, the school yard is still flooded with water because of the low-lying area. That is the status quo of the school built more than 30 years ago. Before this serious deterioration, the school was invested by the province to build at a new location with a scale of 14 classrooms, 18 function rooms, many auxiliary works with a total value of nearly 45 billion VND. However, currently, due to many reasons, the handover of the new school is behind schedule, it will take the second semester of the school year 2023-2024 to be able to teach in the new school.
Difficulties do not stop there when over the past 10 years, Tran Phu Secondary School still has to try to maintain an odd spot inside Thanh Tri hamlet (Long Dien commune). This odd point is "deposited" at Nguyen Van Uong Primary School (with 4 classrooms), nearly 8km from the center point, the students here are mostly ethnic minority children, with difficult circumstances. Many times, the school has campaigned and expressed the desire for parents to bring their children to the center so that they can have better learning and practice conditions, but they have to "relentless", because if they "squeeze" too much. many will drop out of school! Therefore, the most extreme person is still the teacher, but loving the students, the teachers still work hard every day to get 2 points.
Located in the farthest school group in the province, teaching and learning conditions are still difficult, but over the years Ninh Thanh Loi High School (Hong Dan district) has maintained the quality of education. The school currently has 2 zones (1km apart), in which zone 1 teaches high school level, zone 2 teaches middle school level. The new school year is approaching, but the school is lacking 5 teachers of Geography, Informatics – junior high school; Literature, English, History – high school level. Facilities are currently degraded, teachers and students' tables and chairs are much damaged and need to be replaced and supplemented; The equipment room has been equipped for a long time, so most of it has been irreparably damaged, without additional procurement funds; Funds allocated for activities are very limited… causing many difficulties for the school's preparation for the new school year.

Optimistic looking to the future
The difficulty is that, but the schools in remote areas still try their best to prepare well for the new school year. Mr. Vu Duc Quy - Principal of Tran Phu Secondary School, said: "This school year, the school will move to a new location, so currently the school only focuses on cleaning classrooms and preparing as much as possible. and encourage students, teachers, and parents to try their best to teach and study at the same place. Currently, the school has enrolled more than 90% of the assigned target (expected to recruit 210 students in grade 6). The review of students in all grades has also been drastically implemented so that after completing the enrollment, the school will mobilize students to graduate with difficult cases. Not only that, the school's special attention is paid to caring for students with difficult circumstances and ethnic minority children. Currently, we have connected with businesses, sponsors, alumni to mobilize scholarships, bicycles, health insurance, textbooks, uniforms...; have policies on tuition fee exemption and reduction for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged students. It can be said that the school is ready for the new school year 2023-2024.
At this time, Ninh Thanh Loi High School is balancing the funding to re-line the peeling classroom floors, repair broken glass at the doors, move the electrical system of some damaged rooms, mobilize teachers to repair. More than 100 sets of tables and chairs. Recently, the provincial mission has visited the field and is expected to disburse about 1,5 billion VND to repair the subsided multi-purpose house, repair a fallen fence about 20m, renovate. corridors of classrooms (zone 1); replace the roof system of a row of classrooms and principal houses (zone 2); invest 180 more sets of student tables and chairs, 30 sets of teacher tables and chairs, 1 set of photocopiers. Another good news is that the school is currently promoting the upgrade and renovation of the school library with a total cost of 150 million VND, funded by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper. The school is rushing to accelerate the progress to soon complete and is expected to inaugurate after the opening ceremony of the new school year.
Mr. Danh To Nol - Vice Principal of Ninh Thanh Loi High School, excitedly shared: "In recent years, education in remote areas has prospered, facilities, schools and classrooms are increasingly spaciously invested, modern, well meet the learning needs of local children. In that trend, even though it is a school in the most remote area in the province, the school is interested in investment and support in all aspects to have a spacious appearance like today. This foundation has helped the school's educational quality to be increasingly improved, the percentage of students passing high school and university graduation is increasing, especially this year, the school also exceeded the target with grade 6 (beyond the target). 20 students) and 10th grade (more than 40 students). Not only that, the work of supporting and empowering students with difficult circumstances is well cared for by the school. Currently, there are 8 bicycles, 13 health insurance cards, more than 100 gifts from the local, sponsors registered to support the school's students on the opening ceremony ... ".
Strongly confronting, unanimously removing difficulties is the motto that schools in remote areas are effectively applying. Not only that, with a bright heart wholeheartedly for dear juniors, teachers, and schools in remote areas are painting an optimistic picture for the beginning of a new school year.
