Grok - AI Chatbot used by Elon Musk to compete with ChatGPT
The world's richest billionaire Elon Musk was once a co-founder of OpenAI, the software company behind the famous artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT. However, after Musk left OpenAI, the relationship between Elon Musk and his former company became worse because OpenAI developed ChatGPT not to Elon Musk's liking.
"Irritated" by what OpenAI was doing, in March 2023, Elon Musk founded the artificial intelligence company xAI to compete. In November 2023, xAI launched the chatbot Grok.
The advantage of Grok is that it can update data in real time through information shared publicly by users of social network X (Screenshot).
Unlike ChatGPT or other AI-integrated chatbots such as Claude AI, Gemini… Grok is trained based on large databases and public content shared by users of social network X (owned by Elon Musk). This helps Grok to update the latest information, instead of just being limited to the data used to train the chatbot.
Grok is powered by Colossus, the world's largest supercomputer located in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. This gives Grok the ability to respond to user queries quickly.
Grok is also designed to be more humorous and “rebellious” than other AI chatbots, in true Elon Musk style.
How to use Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok
At launch, Grok was only available to X social network users who subscribed to the Premium and Premium+ service packages, priced at $7 and $14 per month, respectively.
However, Grok has recently officially opened its doors to free X users.
With the free version, you can ask Grok to answer up to 10 questions within 2 hours. After answering all 10 questions, free users will have to wait another 2 hours to continue using Grok or subscribe to the X Premium service.
In case you have used up your free account limit, you can activate another web browser, log in to a new Gmail or Apple account to continue using Grok without any waiting time.
To use AI chatbot Grok, readers access the website at https://x.com/i/grok .
On the website interface that appears, you can click the "Sign Up" button to register a new X account, or click the "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Apple" button without registering a new account.
If you sign in to your Google or Apple account, tap "Continue" to allow your account to sign in to social network X.
After completing the login step, the website interface will be redirected to the Grok chatbot interface.
In case the Grok interface does not appear, you can visit the website https://x.com/i/grok .
The way to use Grok is similar to other AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude AI... that is, users ask questions and receive responses from this chatbot. You can use Vietnamese to ask questions and receive responses in the corresponding language.
Not only providing answers, Grok also shares websites that provide information so that users can access and verify the answers provided by Grok.
To use Grok effectively, every time you want to ask a new question that is not related to the previous question, you click on the "New Chat" icon in the upper right corner.
This will help Grok not get confused between the information provided by the user to give more accurate answers.
Using Grok to create images on demand
In addition to the Q&A feature, Grok also allows users to create images with descriptive text. Grok's image creation capabilities are highly appreciated for being able to create high-quality, realistic images that closely match the user's description.
To use this function, users can issue the command "Create me an image…" along with the image content they want Grok to create.
For each request, Grok will generate 4 different images for the user to choose from. If you are not satisfied, you can ask Grok to recreate new images. Users should enter the most detailed description possible so that Grok can create accurate and suitable images for the request.
If you are satisfied with the images created, you can click the "…" button on each image and select "Save Image" to download the image to your device.
One thing to note, images created by Grok will be labeled "Grok" in the corner of the image, as a way to warn that these are AI-generated images, in case users want to share these images on social networks.
It should be noted that, like other AI chatbots, Grok may provide inaccurate information when answering user questions.
Therefore, you should only use Grok as a tool to support your work, study or information search. Do not use the information provided by this chatbot for research purposes or for jobs that require high accuracy of information.
