Instructions: Wash the beef and cut it into bite-sized cubes. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add ginger, and blanch the beef for 2 minutes to remove any impurities. Peel and finely chop the garlic and shallots. Peel off the tough parts of the lemongrass, crush it, and finely chop the base, keeping the top part. Peel and wash the carrots, white radish, and potatoes, then cut them into bite-sized cubes.
Remove the beef from the pot, marinate it with the spice packet, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of MSG, chopped onion and minced garlic for 30 minutes.
Place a pot on the stove, add a little cooking oil, and sauté over low heat until the beef is browned. Then, pour in enough boiling water to cover the meat and simmer over low heat. When the meat begins to soften, add the carrots, potatoes, and white radish to the pot, season to taste, and simmer for another 10 minutes. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a bowl of boiling water, and gradually add it to the beef stew, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Turn off the heat, serve the beef stew in a bowl, and enjoy with white rice or bread.
