New method for calculating pensions and benefits effective from July 1st.

Accordingly, from July 1st, pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances will be increased by 8% compared to June 2026.

For pensioners, after the 8% monthly allowance adjustment, if their monthly allowance is less than 3.8 million VND, they will receive an additional increase of 300,000 VND/month if their monthly allowance is equal to or less than 3.5 million VND/month.

From July 1st, pension and allowance rates will be increased by 8% (Illustrative image).

In addition, the benefit will be adjusted upwards to 3.8 million VND for those whose current benefit is higher than 3.5 million VND but lower than 3.8 million VND per person per month.

Regarding the calculation method, the pension, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances from July onwards will be equal to the pension, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances of June multiplied by 1.08.

For individuals whose pension, social insurance benefits, or monthly allowances are equal to or less than 3.5 million VND after adjustment, the amount will be increased by 300,000 VND per month.

Specifically, the pension, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances will be equal to the adjusted pension, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances plus 300,000 VND/month.

Meanwhile, those whose pension, social insurance benefits, or monthly allowances are higher than 3.5 million VND/month but lower than 3.8 million VND/month after adjustment will have their pensions or allowances increased to 3.8 million VND/month.

For those receiving monthly survivor's benefits or service allowances as stipulated by social insurance laws before July 1, 2026, the monthly survivor's benefit amount from July 1, 2026, will be calculated based on the basic salary stipulated in Decree 161/2026 (increased from VND 2.34 million to VND 2.53 million per month).

Statistics from the Vietnam Social Insurance show that there are currently 3.4 million people nationwide receiving various levels of pensions and allowances. Of these, the majority (nearly 80%) are in the group receiving between 3 million VND/month and less than 10 million VND/month.
