Renovating the power grid to eliminate violations.

The upgrading of the power grid has contributed to reducing many violations of the power grid safety corridor by Hai Duong Power Company.

The power pole, belonging to the 35kV branch line in Ninh Giang town (route 375E8.7), was built in 1969 and is located right behind Mr. Cao Van Tuan's house.

No more living under high-voltage power lines.

The 35kV branch line in Ninh Giang town, route 375E8.7, was constructed in 1969. The section from pole 4 to pole 9 passes through land belonging to the Northern Residential and Commercial Service Area project. Due to prolonged use, the concrete at the base and body of the poles has peeled off in many places, exposing the reinforcing steel. The approximately 303-meter-long power line is frequently overloaded locally.

In 2024, Ninh Giang Power Company, in coordination with local authorities, developed a plan to renovate and relocate this 35kV power line to a new location along the sidewalk of Ninh Tinh Street, eliminating the violations at a cost of 900 million VND. “With the cooperation of the local authorities, the unit has developed a plan to relocate the power line. This has contributed to reducing 21 violations of the power grid safety corridor, ensuring safety for households living under the power line and contributing to the safety of the power grid system,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Deputy Director of Ninh Giang Power Company.

The 35kV power line, route 371 E8.15, passing through Quan Goi area, Vinh Hung commune (Binh Giang district), was constructed and put into operation in 1996. 36 households have structures located within the power grid's safety corridor, of which 4 households have structures that do not meet the safety requirements. Some residents' structures are only about 1 meter away from the 35kV power line, posing a significant danger. A few years ago, someone suffered an electric shock at their own property due to violating the safety distance.

In 2024, Cam Giang Power Company planned to bury this power line underground in the densely populated area with a total cost of approximately 2.5 billion VND. The completed project will help eliminate all violations of the power grid safety corridor in the area under Cam Giang Power Company's management.

Renovate to eliminate

The 35kV power line passing through the Quan Goi area previously had 36 households located within its right-of-way; now that the line has been buried underground, it no longer poses a danger.

According to Hai Duong Power Company Limited, in 2024, the unit eliminated 8 particularly serious violations of the power grid safety corridor, including 4 points managed by Cam Giang Power Company and 4 points on 2 high-voltage power lines in the area managed by Kinh Mon Power Company.

The entire province currently has 45 points of violation of the power grid safety corridor. Tu Ky district has the most violations in the province with 29 points. The main cause of these violations is that local authorities did not take into account the power grid safety corridor when allocating land to people.

To ensure the safety of residents living under high-voltage power lines, Hai Duong Power Company Limited annually organizes awareness campaigns for households and requires them to sign commitments not to construct any illegal structures, cause accidents, or disrupt the power grid. The company regularly includes in its plans projects to renovate and repair high-voltage power lines at points violating the power grid safety corridor to ensure the safety of residents and the power grid system.

“In 2025 and subsequent years, we will continue to implement projects to renovate and repair high-voltage power lines with violations. The unit regularly inspects the power grid system, promptly detecting and handling violations to prevent new ones from arising,” added Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Deputy Director of Ninh Giang Power Company.

In addition, Hai Duong Power Company Limited directed the power companies in districts, towns, and cities to intensify propaganda to raise awareness among people and communities about the dangers and potential damage caused by violating the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines.

Protecting the safety of power grid corridors is a crucial task, as line failures, especially on high-voltage lines, can cause widespread power outages, resulting in significant losses for customers. The unit is strengthening coordination with local authorities to regularly inspect, detect, and promptly handle any violations that arise, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property, and the safety of the power grid system.

Hai Duong Power Company Limited is managing 477.33 km of 110kV power lines; 25 substations with 52 110kV transformers with a total capacity of 2,350.5 MVA (20 substations with 37 110kV transformers are assets of the power sector with a total capacity of 1,887 MVA; 5 substations with 15 dedicated 110kV transformers are assets of customers, with a total capacity of 463.5 MVA).

Regarding the medium-voltage power grid, the total length is 3,093.435 km, including 35 kV and 22 kV lines. There are 5,905 substations with 6,326 transformers with a total capacity of 3,740.571 MVA (3,096 substations with 3,095 transformers are the property of the power company with a capacity of over 1,148.3 MVA; the remainder are the property of customers).
