In the final days of the year, Hamlet 11, Ea Nuôl Commune, is more bustling than usual. On the grassy fields bordering the rice paddies, the jingling of bells accompanying the footsteps of the cattle creates a familiar sound of the agricultural countryside. For many poor and near-poor households here, it is not only the sound of daily labor, but also a sign of a gradually improving life.

The family of Mr. Hoang Van Ly (Nung ethnic group) is one of the near-poor households that directly benefit from the local livelihood support policy. Previously, the family's income mainly depended on farming, resulting in unstable earnings.

In 2024, Mr. Ly's family received two breeding cows from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction. Instead of waiting and relying on others, he proactively researched livestock farming techniques, combining grazing with pens, and utilizing readily available local feed sources.

Thanks to proper care, the herd of cows has grown well and is healthy, and has now given birth to another calf. This not only brings immediate economic value but also serves as a "savings," opening up opportunities for sustainable poverty alleviation.

Also in Hamlet 11, the family of Mr. Hoang Van Quan is a vivid example of the effectiveness of the poverty reduction program. Having received two breeding cows in 2023, this young Nung ethnic man has devoted all his efforts to caring for them. His hard work and frugality, combined with timely support, have significantly improved his family's economic situation. Mr. Quan shared: “Having an additional source of income gives my family more motivation to work and develop our economy. Hard work pays off, and now my family is gradually becoming more financially secure than before.”

Mr. Ly took advantage of the opportunity.

After the merger, Ea Nuôl commune has a natural area of approximately 110.67 km², a population of 42,773 people with 9,532 households.

Eighteen ethnic groups live together in the commune, with ethnic minorities accounting for 48%. Uneven production conditions, lack of capital, and lack of sustainable livelihoods were once major obstacles in poverty reduction efforts.

Recognizing these difficulties, over the years, Ea Nuôl commune has implemented many large-scale livelihood support programs, focusing on models suitable to the local conditions. In 2025 alone, the commune has been providing support for 218 breeding cows and deer to households in the area.

Recognizing that poverty reduction must be linked to raising the self-reliance and self-improvement of the people, especially ethnic minorities, the locality has focused on disseminating information and providing guidance on livestock farming techniques, helping people to effectively utilize support resources.

The cattle breeding model creates additional

The cattle breeding support program has created additional livelihoods, giving Mr. Hoang Van Quan's family more motivation to develop their family economy.

According to the report on poverty and near-poverty households in Ea Nuôl commune, as of early December 2025, 10.62% of households in the commune were classified as poor and 9.9% as near-poor. Notably, the multidimensional poverty rate in 2025 decreased by 4.73% compared to 2024, demonstrating the significant efforts of both the political system and the local people.

Mr. Bui Hong Thanh, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Ea Nuol commune, said: “Through practical implementation, livelihood support models, especially the support for breeding cattle and deer, have proven to be very effective for people in the area. With support provided to the right people and according to their needs, people have become more aware of the need to improve their lives, proactively engage in business, and thus reduce poverty sustainably.”

According to Mr. Bui Hong Thanh, in the coming time, the locality will continue to review and evaluate the effectiveness of each model to make appropriate adjustments. The goal is not only to reduce the poverty rate, but more importantly to prevent re-poverty, helping people have a stable and sustainable life…
