At the seminar, a representative from Department A05 ( Ministry of Public Security ) stated that in May alone, they had discovered two cases of cyberattacks on digital data in the medical sector. In these cases, hackers offered to sell doctors' data, including full information such as names, specialties, and workplaces. This data is suspected to have been hacked from the system for issuing medical practice certificates at the Ministry of Health, and then offered for sale as data packages.
Also in May, cybersecurity authorities discovered that hackers had attacked the diagnostic imaging data of patients at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, including patient information and image results. The Cybersecurity Department sent a letter to the Ministry of Health and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital requesting prompt remediation.

According to experts, hospitals and the healthcare sector need to focus on ensuring data security and cybersecurity, especially when patient records are stored electronically. In previous years, cybersecurity experts have discovered hackers leaking vaccination information; gaining control of the Cho Ray Hospital website; encrypting data at the An Giang Provincial Central General Hospital; and attacking the online appointment booking website of the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Hospital...
At the conference, hospital directors discussed the topic of "Smart Hospitals," with criteria such as the use of electronic medical records, smart hospital management, AI in early cancer diagnosis, and support for remote diagnosis and treatment, thereby increasing hospital management efficiency, convenience for patients, and reducing waiting times for examinations and treatments.

Cybersecurity experts note that hospitals and the healthcare industry need to better ensure security.
