Beware of scams perpetrated by individuals impersonating water company employees.

On September 10th, Mr. Pham Phuoc Tai, General Director of Ca Mau Water Supply Joint Stock Company, stated that the company has recently received numerous complaints from customers regarding individuals impersonating company employees to commit fraud.

According to Mr. Pham Phuoc Tai, the method used by these individuals is to call customers, posing as company employees, requesting them to provide their citizen identification cards and land ownership documents to sign a new water service contract, promising a discount on water bills; at the same time, they threaten to cut off the water supply if the customer does not comply.

Then, the perpetrators entice customers to add them as friends on Zalo or access a fake link to sign an online contract.

In fact, these links contain malware; when customers access them and disclose information, their personal data, especially bank account details, are at risk of being stolen.

The Ca Mau Water Supply Joint Stock Company affirms that it does not send employees to contact customers privately via Zalo, text messages, or ask them to access any links to sign online contracts or offer water bill discounts through unofficial channels.

To ensure safety when using water supply services, the company advises customers: Do not provide your citizen identification card, bank account number, password, or OTP code to unknown phone numbers or links; especially do not add Zalo accounts that claim to be water supply employees but whose identities cannot be verified.

Upon noticing any unusual signs, customers should contact the company's phone number for prompt assistance and answers.

Previously, Mr. Vo Minh Trang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bac Lieu Water Supply Joint Stock Company (BLW) also stated that since September 6th, there have been instances of impersonation of the company, with people calling customers and requesting them to "re-sign water supply contracts" for fraudulent purposes.

Following feedback from residents, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bac Lieu Water Supply Joint Stock Company affirmed that in 2024 and the first months of 2025, the company's production and business activities proceeded normally and achieved many positive results.

The company focuses on technology upgrades and improving service quality for customers. Therefore, the company does not require customers to "re-sign contracts" through direct transactions or online links. All contracts are automatically renewed on the system when they expire.

The company advises customers to absolutely not click on any suspicious links, and not to provide personal information or bank account details when receiving suspicious messages, calls, or emails.

When detecting signs of fraud, people should quickly report it to the police to protect themselves and the community.
