According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, the heatwave covering the entire country is likely to last for several more days, peaking from April 9th to 13th.
In the Northern region, localized heatwaves occurred in the Northern delta on April 9th. From April 10th to 13th, the heatwave expanded, with maximum temperatures generally ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in some areas. Hanoi is within this affected area, and temperatures are forecast to rise rapidly following this cyclical pattern.

In Central Vietnam, from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces, intense heat will last from April 9th to 14th, with temperatures generally ranging from 36-39 degrees Celsius, and in some places reaching 39-41 degrees Celsius.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions, including Ho Chi Minh City, continue to experience widespread heatwaves during the same period, with temperatures commonly reaching 35-37 degrees Celsius.
The main cause has been identified as the strong circulation of a hot low-pressure area in the West, combined with the Foehn wind effect and a subtropical high-pressure ridge maintaining a stable state over the southern region.
According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem, Director of the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, from April 14th onwards, the heatwave in the aforementioned areas tends to gradually subside. Some places may experience thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, contributing to a cooling effect.
However, the period from April 9th to April 13th and 14th will be the peak of the heatwave, with the risk level for heat-related natural disasters generally at level 1, and possibly reaching level 2 in the North Central region if temperatures remain high for several consecutive days.
"The risk level for heatwave-related natural disasters in the Central region has been determined to reach level 2 when the highest daily temperatures commonly reach 37-39 degrees Celsius, lasting continuously for 2-3 days or more and occurring over a wide area, usually in 2 or more provinces," the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting stated. At this level, the heatwave has begun to have a noticeable impact on people's health, as well as on production and daily life activities.
