At 8:10 PM on April 28th, the Ha Long Carnival 2024, themed "Shining Bright with Wonders," officially opened at the Ocean Park beach (Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long).
Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Political Bureau, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy; Mr. Vu Hong Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee; National Assembly delegates; representatives from the embassies of Laos, Thailand, China, and the United States; international delegates; leaders of central ministries, departments, and agencies, and Quang Ninh province; leaders of several northern provinces; and thousands of local people, tourists, artists, and actors from both within and outside the country.
Since 2007, the Ha Long Carnival has become an annual event, a unique cultural and tourism brand of Quang Ninh, and a familiar and favorite destination for locals and tourists alike, having been held 17 times.
This is one of the most unique tourism products, the most impressive street festival every summer, which Quang Ninh has maintained and developed for many years, leaving deep impressions and memories in the hearts of every visitor who immerses themselves in the festive atmosphere. At the same time, the program aims to build Ha Long into a city of heritage, a city of flowers and festivals, celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024), the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - 2024), and the 30th anniversary of Ha Long Bay being recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site.
The Ha Long Carnival 2024 program consists of 5 acts: The Legend of Ha Long; Fishing Village; Trading Port; Ha Long Carnival Heritage Dance; and Shining Bright with Wonders.
The program's script is developed and inspired by six core values in Quang Ninh province's value system, focusing on the value of its beautiful natural landscape, unique culture, and developed economy.
The Ha Long Carnival 2024 features attractive and unique new elements, including live art performances and being the first carnival on the sea in Vietnam.
This is also the first time the Carnival program has organized performances and parades on the sea and on the sandy shores of Ha Long Bay, incorporating musical and theatrical elements, harmoniously combining history and culture to highlight the World Heritage-Natural Wonder of Ha Long Bay at night.
The program brings together leading creative teams, artists, and artisans in Vietnam; international delegations from Hokkaido (Japan), Guangxi (China), Laos, Thailand, and European dance groups, along with nearly 2,000 actors, singers, musicians, and artisans from the Northeast region; amateur performers, and domestic and international art troupes participating in the performances.
In particular, the program also features 3D mapping performances and drone light shows showcasing many distinctive and unique images associated with the people and identity of Quang Ninh.
Along with the Ha Long Carnival program, a series of unique festivals, sports, cultural, and tourism events are also taking place in Ha Long City on this occasion, such as the opening of the pedestrian street and food stalls in Bai Chay ward; sports competitions; the Beer and Squid Cake Festival; the Lion, Dragon, and Unicorn Dance Festival; the Ha Long City Zumba Club Festival; the Ha Long City Modern Dance Group Festival; the Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival; and the Kite Festival with the theme "Flying High with Aspirational Kites..."
