Since the arrival of new recruits who had just completed their basic training, the battalion commander divided the football field in half so that two matches could be played simultaneously, as many soldiers enjoyed this popular sport. According to the battalion commander's regulations, second-year soldiers played on the left side of the field (as viewed from the stands); the right side was reserved for new recruits.

On a weekend afternoon, seeing that the left side of the field was short one player, soldier Tuan, who had just returned to the unit, asked his comrades if he could join in.
