More than 200 workers and engineers are busy constructing Nhon Trach bridge across Dong Nai river, costing 1.800 billion VND, helping to increase regional connectivity.
After 8 months start, Nhon Trach Bridge, under the Ring Road 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City, achieved about 30% of the progress. This is the largest bridge on the ring road, part of project 1A, section Tan Van - Nhon Trach. This section is 8,7 km long, has two main items including: a bridge of 2,6 km long, 19,5 m wide and the path at both ends of the bridge with a total length of more than 5,6 km. The total investment of the project is 6.900 billion VND, of which the demand is 1.800 billion VND, completed after 3 years.
On May 31, on the Nhon Trach bridge construction site, all kinds of machinery, barges, ships, construction materials... gathered to serve the construction work. On the river, the bridge's position gradually took shape compared to last September when the construction started. Besides Nhon Trach, which is the largest bridge, Ring 5 has nearly 9 other bridges over rivers and canals. The second largest bridge is Binh Goi, crossing the Saigon River, nearly one kilometer long, connecting District 3, Ho Chi Minh City and Thuan An City, Binh Duong.
In the middle of the river, piles with a diameter of 2 m are planted more than 80 m deep in the river bed.
The construction site on the Ho Chi Minh City side of the bridge has a number of piers installed. Nhon Trach Bridge has 39 pillars and two abutments, most of these items are in the pile drilling stage.
According to the My Thuan Project Management Board (project investor), Ho Chi Minh City has handed over all the ground, so the construction is convenient. The work here is expected to be completed 4 months earlier than the contract.
On the project side in Ho Chi Minh City, dozens of workers are making steel cages for the construction of bored piles for the bridge foundation. The whole project currently has more than 200 workers and engineers working.
At the bridgehead on the Dong Nai side, workers are also busy with construction, many types of machinery for the construction site are gathered here.
Workers at the bridgehead on the Dong Nai side process steel cages.
Mr. Ngo Truong Giang, 30 years old, got into the cage to tie the steel bars. "Everybody here eats and sleeps in the camp to ensure the construction progress," the male worker said.
Nhon Trach bridge construction site is located in an isolated place from residential areas, surrounded by rivers, and cannot be connected by road. Traveling, transporting equipment, machinery and construction materials are all by water.
The contractor said that he has arranged shifts to work all day and night, including weekends and New Year holidays to be able to complete the construction earlier than the contract.
The road section at both ends of the bridge is more than 5,6 km long, of which the end point will intersect with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway. Currently, the ground in Ho Chi Minh City has been handed over and is being cleared of bushes and dug to form a road.
Dong Nai province has not handed over yet ground making construction difficult. The construction area of Nhon Trach bridge has only the land adjacent to the river, which is mobilized by the locality and the investor to temporarily hand over the land.
The My Thuan Project Management Board requires contractors to receive the ground to focus on implementing the construction there. The Board requested Dong Nai province to hand over the entire site in June 6, so as not to affect the overall progress of the project.

Gland Belt 3 passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, phase one investment with a length of more than 76 km, a total capital of more than 75.300 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2026.
The route has been planned since 2011 with a total length of 90 km, playing a strategic role in forming a transport network linking provinces and cities in the Southern Key Economic Region, promoting the economy and society.
However, due to difficulties in capital and implementation mechanism, after 11 years, the whole route has only 15 km through Binh Duong, completed and put into operation. After many efforts, the road will be started in June this year.
