Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri asked his Tunisian national team teammate, currently playing for Copenhagen, Elias Achouri, to go easy on him when they face each other in the third matchday of Group A of the Champions League on the evening of October 24th.
"I called Hannibal after the Champions League group stage draw. We also spoke during international time," Achouri said before the Man Utd - Copenhagen match. "He told me to calm down a bit and not to kill the Man Utd players. But I told Hannibal that I had to do it, or at least try."

Achouri predicted that the match against Man Utd on October 24th would be one of the greatest moments of his career. He wanted to focus and deliver a good result for Copenhagen. He also added that Copenhagen would win and then the two players would exchange shirts.
Achouri stated that he knows Mejbri very well, thanks to playing together for the Tunisian national team. Furthermore, having grown up together in France, the two players are very close friends.
Achouri made his debut for the Tunisian national team in 2022, playing six matches but without scoring any goals. At club level, the 24-year-old striker played for Victoria Guimaraes, Estoril, Trofense (Portugal), and Viborg before moving to Copenhagen (Denmark) in July 2023. After 10 appearances for his new club, he has scored two goals.
While Achouri played for smaller clubs, Mejbri came through the Manchester United academy. Having impressed in the Championship while on loan at Birmingham City last season, the 20-year-old midfielder was promoted to the first team by manager Erik ten Hag. After four appearances, Mejbri scored a goal in the 1-3 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League on September 16th.

In their first two Champions League Group A matches, Man Utd lost 3-4 to Bayern Munich and 2-3 to Galatasaray. Mejbri and his teammates are currently bottom of the table, while Copenhagen are just above them with one point. Meanwhile, Bayern lead with six points, and Galatasaray are second with four points. If Man Utd fail to beat Copenhagen, they face the risk of being eliminated in the group stage.
In domestic competitions, Copenhagen are in better form than Man Utd. Achouri's team are leading the Danish Super League with 26 points after 12 matches, one point ahead of second-placed Silkeborg. Meanwhile, Man Utd are eighth in the Premier League with 15 points, after five wins and four losses.
