With the help of her father, Dat successfully reconciles with Son. Listening to his mother-in-law's stories, Dat understands Son's hardships and sacrifices and realizes how inconsiderate he has been to his wife. Tố and Mr. Công were happy to see the happy photos of Đạt and Son. Tuyết also sent photos of her parents visiting the couple. Mr. Công guessed that Tuyết's parents had begun to accept Danh. So, both Đạt and Son, and Danh and Tuyết, had reconciled.
In the final episode of Under the Tree of Happiness , Nhai (Thach Huyen) returns, and To (Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai) rushes to meet her, only to find her accompanied by a young boy.
Nhai felt sorry for her son because when he lived with his mother, she was his only relative. "I will try my best to be a strong pillar of support so my son can rely on me and not lack anything," Nhai told herself. To bravely comforted her: "You still have Son as a friend and you also have me." To seemed to intend to stay and take care of Nhai and her son, so that Nhai would no longer feel insecure and lonely. Although they haven't had the perfect wedding they hoped for, viewers can still have hope for the couple's future. Mr. Cong (People's Artist Quoc Tri) has now completely changed his view of Nhai. Not only that, he even invited her to take family photos on his birthday celebration.
When the storm passed, Mr. Cong's family understood that family happiness is not the responsibility of any one person alone. Everyone stands under the shade of this tree of happiness, so they must work together to nurture it so that it can flourish. "The tree of happiness has finally blossomed," the commemorative photograph, a reunion and happiness of Mr. Cong's family, clearly conveys the humanistic message throughout the film: Each person is like a tree. The ancient trees represent grandparents and parents. The young saplings represent grandchildren and children. Whatever kind of tree it is, everyone needs to rely on each other to grow.
Most viewers were satisfied with the happy ending for the characters in the film. Bidding farewell to the series, actor Manh Hung expressed: "No family is perfect; there are arguments, conflicts, and even periods of coldness. But in the end, family is still family... where love always exists."
Under the Tree of Happiness concludes with a satisfying and happy ending for the audience.
Under the Tree of Happiness is one of the highlights of television dramas in early 2023. Revolving around the life of a family in the suburbs, the series escapes the "concrete" of the city but also avoids the gloomy atmosphere of the countryside. The content is relatable, the storytelling is simple, lighthearted, humorous, yet deeply moving.
Many viewers commented that the film successfully explored everyday conflicts within families, from minor clashes to stories about family members from different perspectives. In real life, there are plenty of patriarchal husbands like Dat, submissive wives like Son, and modern daughters-in-law like Tuyet...
Furthermore, the screenwriter's success lies in creating characters with distinct personalities—no one perfect, yet unique and unmistakable. Director and Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa has selected a diverse cast that still retains a fresh and vibrant quality.
Under the Tree of Happiness is a highlight of television dramas in early 2023.
In her first leading role, Kim Oanh scored points thanks to her natural acting style and appearance, perfectly suited to the character of a simple, down-to-earth rural woman. Meanwhile, Mạnh Hưng, with his strength in playing villainous roles, delivered the most genuine emotions to the audience, making Đạt the most hated character in the film.
Another couple who brought much enjoyment was Hoang Anh Vu and Kieu My. They portrayed the fame-obsessed, social-obsessed couple Tuyet and Danh, making viewers both annoyed and amused by their childish behavior. In particular, the duo Tu (Thai Son) and To (Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai), with their charming and well-coordinated banter, were a highlight of the film.
However, Under the Tree of Happiness still has certain drawbacks. The script is constructed with many plot points that are considered illogical, even dramatized to an unrealistic degree, causing viewers frustration and fatigue. By focusing too much on everyday stories, the producers are gradually falling into a rut of portraying Vietnamese women as suffering and pitiful...
Nevertheless, Under the Tree of Happiness remains a successful film for the production team, conveying to viewers a message about preserving happiness and cherishing love.
