Shaw has made little contribution to MU. |
Shaw has just returned to action in the dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals. The England defender played 75 minutes at Old Trafford despite being assessed as not yet fit enough.
On April 20, coach Ruben Amorim decided to let Shaw rest and not include his name in the squad for the match against Wolves.
On social media, MU fans expressed their displeasure at this news. One fan sarcastically commented: "Playing football in the middle of the week and then resting at the weekend, how pathetic for Luke Shaw." Another account wrote: "Maybe he needs another 365 days to recover."
Another fan commented: "It's time to sell Shaw, his playing minutes are decreasing."
Shaw has been criticised for his injuries and poor fitness over the years. In the last two seasons, he has only played 20 games, with a total playing time of just 1365 minutes. This has led many fans to believe that MU should not be patient and sell Shaw soon to invest in a better defender.
Replacing Shaw in the match against Wolves was Tyler Fredricson, a player promoted from the MU U21 team. The young center-back of the "Red Devils" had a promising debut, playing confidently and having many effective challenges.
It is not yet clear whether Shaw will play in the away match against Bournemouth in round 34 of the Premier League on April 27.
